Costume making was in full swing for one family member last week. Youngest hosted a sewing day for her friends, making sure they actually did some of the stitching. A couple of them decided to be the ugly stepsisters and Cinderella (actually, as Debbie pointed out, “Cinderfella”). Youngest found the most frustrating part of the effort wasn’t the stitching, but rather getting them to say if something fit correctly. Answers like “I don’t know, how should it fit?” drove her crazy. As you might expect, the costumes were a huge hit. Cinderfella liked his so much he wore it all day, including to dinner at a favorite restaurant. Several servers stopped to ask what she started the costume with. Her befuddled response, “Fabric”. Which elicited, “No, what did you repurpose?” Lots of explaining on her part led to requests from others for outfits… I think we’ve pretty much agreed, if you were tempted to stab your friends with your scissors as you made the outfits, you should not sew for others!

Wishing you opportunities to share your love of sewing this week,

Mary Beth

This Saturday (11-7-26) those in our beginning of the month pieced Saturday Sampler group will meet at 9:00am. The session will begin with a look at things going on in the shop, and show and tell. We will then move on to the new block, and a setting option for your blocks. So much to learn and see - hope you can make it!

QC From Our Table

November 7th - 21st

Marvelous table toppers (made by your friends that work in the shop), and accessories, are being put into place in the shop at this very moment. Each display is part of our effort to support the local independent food pantry. During the two week run of this fan favorite event you will be able to vote for your favorite displays, and have a chance to win a kit for the favorite - we will trade you ballots for items donated for the food pantry. We love making the table pieces, and the food pantry loves your support - win, win!!!!

QC Featherweight Club

Saturday ~ November 7th ~ 10:30am-12:30pm

You are welcome to join us for our next Featherweight Club meeting. This Saturday we will gather to share a bit of Featherweight history, a bit of machine use info, and a new little project that will help you put your machine in play. Yes, you actually sew during the meeting! On Saturday bring your Featherweight, sewing supplies, and ten 10” x 10” and two 5” x 5” squares of assorted prints, and two 10” x 10” squares of Insul bright or cotton batting. I’ve seen one of the hotpads you will be making - absolutely wonderful! Fee $10.00

New fabrics are literally everywhere in the shop! I’m fairly certain there were eight new collections this week alone. Talk about a great time to visit!

Be sure to check to the left as you enter the shop. You’ll find Tula’s new Legendary in that spot! The collection marks her 20 years of brilliant, bold design. Mythical creatures take the lead this time - think dragons, unicorns, pegasus,... Her yellow, orange, pink, purple, green, and teal palette continues her streak, her run of astounding color and design. These should definitely be part of your Tula collection! Fabric $14.59 per yard
