While planning for a class last week, I remembered a top I made that would perfectly illustrate some points. I saw the piece recently… The huge basket in the middle of my sewing space was the first place to search . There was some good stuff in there, although not the needed quilt top. A step stool was needed to check the next “storage” spot - on top of two cabinets. Again, good stuff, but no dice. While acknowledging the search was getting a bit ridiculous, hangers in two closets came next. At that point, I began to wonder if I might be holding onto too many tops. That thought made me look at things with a more critical eye… I took out four tops I love and decided they would be enjoyed far more when finished for the Comfort Cases project. After about an hour and a half I gave up, finally convinced something else would make just as good a teaching sample. A quick stop in the office was needed before beginning class the next day. Would you like to guess what was on the back of my chair?

I’m now convinced elves are at work. Their efforts yielded four more pieces for Comfort Cases, so all is well!

Hope all is well in your sewing space!

This Saturday (4-18-26) those in our applique Saturday Sampler program will meet at 9:00am. We will share a bit of shop news, and then move on to the next block in the series. We will use this block to focus on techniques required when hand appliqueing curves. Don’t forget your blocks from last month for show and tell!

As soon as the session ends I will be heading to the Three Rivers Quilters show - how about you?! The show is this Thursday through Saturday (4/16-4/18) at the Loft Conference Center at Southpointe. As I was setting up, I was looking right at someone's applique Saturday Sampler from the year before last - so pretty! I can’t wait to see all your other quilts - each a true work of art!!!

There are two shop hops coming up! A quick explanation - a shop hop is a chance to visit a series of quilt shops over a given time period - picking up goodies, chances to win door prizes, and in our shop watching demos of techniques that will make your quilting easier and more successful. Consider joining these hops ~

Southwestern PA Shop Hop

The May 11th to 16th hop includes eight stops - eight unique quilt shops. The shops are within a 50 mile radius of Pittsburgh. At each stop you will receive a goodie bag, along with a pattern for a block in the hop’s progressive quilt (collect the pattern for the first block, Four Corners, when you purchase your passport!). Add chances to win awesome prizes (like the grand prize of a $500.00 shopping spree!) when you turn in your completed passport - not to be missed!

All Mid Atlantic Hop

July and August 2026!

There are 78 shops participating in the All Mid Atlantic hop this year. This year the shops are located in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey. The best way to snag a passport is by purchasing the hop magazine. It includes information about the hop, information about each shop, and patterns that put the hop fabric collection into use. It is a marvelous resource, no matter how many shops you are able to visit during the event. Pre-orders are currently being taken for the magazine - this is the best way to ensure you get a copy! Stop in or call today to be sure there is a copy here for you when they are released mid May. Magazine $13.95

We are getting ready for our May 1st and 2nd anniversary celebration. It is so very hard to believe we will be starting our 38th year that weekend! We can’t wait to welcome you to the party - there will be prizes to be won, and treats for everyone - a true thank you for joining us stitch by stitch over the years!

Meetings are coming up for two of your favorite clubs. Be sure to add Simplewhats Club (April 23rd) and Featherweight Club (May 16th) to your calendar. Also, be sure you register for each meeting! While adding them, take a close look at your QC datebook - Earth Day is coming up!

Floral Reef from Tula has arrived. We have the Riptide, Lil Shelly, Anemones, Aquatic Lace, and Reef prints in the green and purple hues. At the moment, some of the bolts are in the shop, while others are at the quilt show - sorry… As usual, Tula’s take on the sea is fantastic - her bold aquatic designs are just begging to be turned into a quilt or bag! Fabric $14.99 per yard
