I’ve mentioned the four legged guest we have at our house sometimes, but not a different one that we visited last week. My sweetie adores dogs, although he pretends to find them annoying. He’s an easy mark - they figure out pretty quickly that he’ll hand over treats continuously. I, on the other hand, will give them attention, but not extra food. A family member asked if the feisty little creature living in the house we were visiting was sleeping with us. My reply, "definitely not!” Several nights later, I realized the bedroom door had been left open the tiniest bit. I’m pretty sure the petite dog can fly, as he soundlessly leapt directly onto me at 4:00am! I’m still trying to figure out why me and not the person handing out treats indiscriminately… 

I’m thinking the dogs in my life this week will just be designs on the fabrics I’m cutting into!

This Saturday (10-3-26) those in our beginning of the month pieced Saturday Sampler group will meet at 9:00am. We will share the newest block kit in the year long series, and share information about things going on in the shop. Don’t forget to bring your completed block from last month in order to receive the new one as our gift!

My goodness, have new fabrics piled in this week! It’s hard to focus on just one, but Anna Maria’s Clean Cut does stand out. In this 18 piece collection her distinctive style is showcased in a range of floral prints. As you might expect, her exquisite blooms are offered in a range of elegant, rich colors. The pattern she has created for the group, also called Clean Cut, is stunning. The pieced design is created with the help of an acrylic template included with the pattern. Wait till you see how the prints work together - I continue to be amazed by how Anna Maria uses color and pattern!

Crazy Quilt As You Go

Saturday ~ October 10th and 24th ~ 12:00pm-4:00pm



In the Crazy Quilt As You Go class you will learn a technique that can be used to make quilts (both large and small), or to make beautiful placemats, table runners,... First learn to cut and piece the unique design, and then your machine's decorative stitches will do the quilting in small, manageable steps. Once you learn the technique you will be able to apply it to a multitude of gift items that can be completed in a short period of time.

New York Beauty

Saturday ~ October 17th ~ 2:00pm-5:00pm



Historically the traditional New York Beauty block would have been a design attempted only by the most experienced quilter, but no more! With the help of modern cutting and piecing techniques, the intricate looking design can now be worked by anyone with a bit of machine sewing experience. In class we will work on several blocks from the Radiant Blocks book. You may choose to make any quilt in the book (other than the tiny mini ones!) as each uses the same 6” finished New York Beauty blocks. We will cover fabric prep and cutting, and then move on to foundation piecing, and curved piecing techniques - both those techniques used by the author and those used by the instructor! You are going to be amazed by what you create!

Collage - Flower Truck

Saturday ~ November14th ~ 10:30am-2:30pm

During this class Tammy, a certified Laura Heine instructor, will cover all the techniques needed to create intricate collage style quilts, while working in small scale. The 8” x 8” collage of a cute truck can be customized to feature flowers in its bed, or pumpkins, or holiday gifts, or… Once you have the techniques mastered, the skies the limit - intricate collage works of fiber art will be in your future!

Class $38.50 (fee includes $8.50 pattern, kit available by special order)
