8:00 a.m. & 10 a.m. Services

Stewardship 2025

"Walk in Love" is the theme of the Stewardship campaign for 2025. We are all asked to make our commitments by Nov. 17.

If you missed my letter about the chicken-toting woman in Ecuador who taught me about giving, read it here.

Jesus speaks of stewardship in the gospel reading this Sunday: "It is far easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God."

That's about trust, not money. I'll try to explain, or "thread the needle," this Sunday.

Have you tried Bible study at 9 a.m.? Join us!

Timothy Safford, Interim Rector

Stewardship in Four Parts, 1 per week.

1: Why we give

As Episcopalian Christians, we believe that everything we have is a gift from God: our talents, energy, family, community, education, personality, time, our very existence… everything we have and everything we are has been given to us by a God who loves us. In gratitude, we respond by sharing our gifts with our church and our neighbors, near and far.

2: Why give to Church, instead of the Red Cross or the Art Museum?

Since we believe that we’ve been blessed by God, we naturally want to reciprocate and share those blessings. Since we can’t write a check or share a meal with God, we look instead to those places and organizations doing God’s work in the world.

Arts, cultural, and historical organizations are all important to a community, and add a great deal to our quality of life. These organizations may be worthy of our support, but it’s a stretch to call it God’s work. Humanitarian organizations like the Red Cross come closer to the mark - I’m reminded of the story of the Good Samaritan acting as a neighbor. The church does humanitarian work as well, locally and globally. Only the church aims to fulfill God’s great commission to make disciples: to bring people to the good news that they are loved and forgiven by God through Jesus, and to develop faithful Christian followers.

Listening for God's voice in the Sunday morning Bible study

When we finish a scripture in church, the reader says, "Hear what the Spirit is saying to God's people." Through meditating on a passage of scripture, we hear God still speaking. This is the goal of the Sunday morning Bible Study which now meets in Honyman Hall each Sunday at 9 a.m. Prepare by reading the passages in advance, click here.

The Pumpkins are Here!

Pumpkin Patch: October 10-31, 2024.

This is one of our community outreach ministries and you can meet people from all over the world. People come into the Patch from the cruise ship and tours that come for the Fall! Some have never seen Pumpkins. They can't buy a Pumpkin but they buy cider, specialty items and baked goods! You will meet so many people from the surrounding neighborhoods and hear how much they love the Patch!! If you can't sit in the Patch, please consider baking pumpkin breads or making a vat of chili to sell!!! Please sign up to be in the Patch and bring a friend or neighbor. Kids and pets are welcome!

The Patch is open everyday from 12-6 and every weekend from 10-6. There are 2 hour shifts available and you can sign up online or in the Hawes room. Many hands make light work. This is a fun ministry! Any questions, please contact

Diane Myers

or Debby Lengyel
