Message from the Rector:
Well friends, we’re in for a roller coaster over the next week.
This Sunday we will celebrate the Transfiguration and hear our final Epiphany gospel about Jesus’ face shining like the sun and his clothes in dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appear beside him and his disciples fall to the ground they are so stunned and overwhelmed by what they see. It has always been one of my favorite scripture passages – a true mountaintop experience, showing the extraordinary nature of our God, and of his beloved son.
Then on Tuesday we will gather together for pancakes and singing and fellowship at our pancake supper. Any time we gather in this way it is joyful and good, a reminder of how much we mean to one another. Every Sunday we share a meal at God’s table, and when we come together for meals of a different kind it is its own kind of sacrament.
On Wednesday, we will experience a sharp change in tone as we gather together for an invitation to a Holy Lent. We will make the sign of the cross on our foreheads and remember our mortality. The language of this service always feels a bit extreme, and yet I appreciate it’s honesty. We are mortal, and we make mistakes and have the opportunity to turn back to God. It will feel nothing like this Sunday’s celebration or the fun of the Pancake Supper, and yet it is equally important in our lives of faith.
While in many ways I always feel a bit of whiplash when we go from one event to another this week, I also appreciate that the rhythm of our Christian life mimics the reality of our own lives: one day full of joy and celebration and the next a reminder of how fleeting and precious our lives are.
I look forward to all of the experiences we will share together in the coming weeks, and I am grateful to be on this journey with all of you.
With gratitude,
Meaghan

LENTEN PROGRAM
We are not morose!:
Holy conversations about death and dying
On Wednesdays in Lent, join us for a simple meal of soup and salad and a program where we enter holy conversations about death and dying. This program is NOT intended to be full of gloom, but will instead invite us to consider what our tradition teaches about what happens when we die, what we hope for in a good death, what we hope our own end of life might look like, and what has helped inform and comfort us as we have considered death.
The program will be led by The. Rev. Meaghan Kelly Brower and Brad Carter, a seminary graduate and associate professor at the Naval War College.
The meal will begin at 5:30pm in the Hawes Room, and the program will run from 6-7pm.
Children are welcome at the meal and childcare will be provided in the Glenn Family Center during the program.
The program will run on the following dates:
Feb 25
March 4
March 11
March 18
March 25
Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we can be sure to provide enough food!

We continue collections for Lucy's Hearth, this week. Lucy's Hearth is a 24-hour emergency and transitional shelter in Newport County serving children and their families who are experiencing homelessness. We have supported Lucy's Hearth many times through our Pumpkin Patch, and they have a list of food needs that are tailored to families in particular. If you can bring any of the items from this list to church with you in the coming weeks, we will be sure to deliver the food to Lucy's Hearth. If you have questions about this effort, please email Diane Myers.

Janet Watkinson, a devoted and long-time member of Trinity Church, died on February 2, 2026. A memorial service was held at Memorial Funeral home last Saturday, and her obituary can be read online.
While Jan had not been able to attend Trinity for several years because of her declining health, she and her husband Bill and their children were an important part of the life of this parish for many years. We give thanks to God for her life, and pray that she rest in peace and rise in glory.
