The Trinity Church e-Tower

for

Ninth Sunday after Pentecost

July 26, 2026

8 AM and 10 AM Worship

Dear Friends,

It's Folk Festival weekend in Newport, and at Trinity we are going to embrace a little bit of that folk feel! Chris and Diane Myers will help lead us in worship on Sunday, and we'll be singing along with guitar and piano.

Some of the tunes and hymns will be known to you, though perhaps sung with a different cadence or rythym (like All Creatures of our God and King). We'll introduce a couple of ways of singing parts of our service that are new to us (like the Prayers of the People). And we'll close out the service with a rendition of "I'll Fly Away".

I hope you know that song already, but in case you don't I've included a video of the version recorded for the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou. If you haven't heard it before, take a listen so you'll be able to sing along with us on Sunday!

Trinity is known for its stunning music program and incredible choir, and that is one of many parts of life at Trinity that I deeply love and appreciate. I have also been pleasantly surprised and delighted that occasionally we depart from our normal repertoire to sing our praise to God in a different way: with jazz and folk and trumpet and guitar.

I look forward to seeing you at worship this Sunday. If you're attending the Folk Festival this weekend I hope that music brings you closer to God too!

With gratitude,

Meaghan

Venezuelan Earthquakes

Recent severe earthquakes in Venezuela have had a devastating effect on the country and its people. Episcopal Relief and Development, the international relief and development agency of the Episcopal Church of the United States, is working with local partners to bring aid to the country in the wake of this terrible tragedy. ERD’s disaster team has been in contact with leadership in the Diocese of Venezuela and other impacted communities. In addition to accompanying their local partners on the ground, they have mobilized with their Canadian, New Zealand and Australian counterparts within the Anglican Alliance.
