A message from the Rector
Since my first Sunday with you in August we have been marching our way through the gospel of Luke. Specifically, we have read from the chapters often called the “Travel Narrative,” as Jesus travels from Galilee to Jerusalem to fulfill his mission. While he travels, we hear a variety of teachings and parables, many of which are – frankly – a bit challenging. We have been reminded over and over of the ways in which we are reminded what it means to be disciples, how to increase our faith, and why we shouldn’t cling to our earthly possessions.
This Sunday we will hear a parable from the final section of Luke’s Travel Narrative before the gospel turns it’s attention towards Jesus’ time in Jerusalem and the trials he faces there. We will hear an important parable about prayer and humility, and will be invited once again to consider our humanity and where we tend to stumble in our efforts to connect with God.
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to revisit the first chapters from this section of Luke when I was invited to be a guest on a podcast with a friend and colleague. You can hear our conversation about Luke 12:12 - 13:59 wherever you listen to podcasts or on YouTube. As you may have heard in my sermons, I continue to wrestle with these passages and teachings, but then, wrestling with scripture has always brought me in closer relationship with God. So maybe I wouldn't have it any other way.
Each Sunday a group of us gathers in the Glenn Family Center at 9 a.m. for similar conversations, where we learn from God and from one another. I hope you’ll consider joining us some week.
I am grateful to have traveled through this portion of Luke's gospel with you, and I am eager for what's next!
With gratitude,
Meaghan

Stewardship Season
The temperature has fallen, and the pumpkins are filling Queen Anne Square… that can only mean one thing: it’s Pledge Season!
We center our pledge drive this year on words that we sing every week as our offerings are brought to the altar: we “praise God from whom all blessings flow”. We believe that all we have and know and love are God-given gifts. Those gifts flow to and through us - like rain that waters the earth and collects into rivers that run to the sea, we are a part of the blessing that nourishes us, and all that we touch.
We’ve been much blessed this year - with a completed campus and a wonderful Rector. Now we need to work together to ensure that those blessings continue to flow beyond ourselves.
Thanks,
Terry
