The Third Sunday After Pentecost, June 29 8 AM and 10 AM Worship

Each week, Molly reminds me to write the "BLT" for the e-Tower.

A "BLT" is not a sandwich, but rather our office shorthand for "Blessed LIttle Thought," which I try to conjure up each week.

As I prepare for this my last Sunday, I find that I've been humming the old gospel hymn, "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms."

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,

Leaning on the everlasting arms;

What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,

Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;

Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

I have been so blessed to serve as Interim Rector these last 15 months, and now I trust that Trinity—a fellowship and joy divine—is safe and secure in the never-failing providence of God. As your new Rector, Meaghan, comes in August and you begin a new chapter, keep leaning on those everlasting arms.

I want to thank you all. Lynn joins me in sharing the joy of this moment.

Onward,

Timothy Safford, (soon to be former) Interim Rector

About a year and a half ago, Reverend Timothy Safford joined Trinity as the Interim Rector. While we had plans for the future, there was concern about whether we could reach our goals. Tim helped the Vestry re-evaluate our goals, not to change them but to ensure we were genuinely committed to those goals. He also encouraged us to focus on the basics that are the foundation of having a healthy congregation; our mission, control of our finances, and a focus on personal interacting with visitors. With Tim’s guidance, we have added new members, grown our Sunday School, had a successful lenten program, are close to completing our new Education and Administration Building and selected a new Rector. But even with all of our accomplishments, the biggest impact Tim’s service has provided is that the mood of Trinity Church is more positive and outreach focused.

I also want to thank Lynn for her service to Trinity Church. Her voice added to the great sound of our Choir. Her presence at coffee hour and events, was enjoyed by the members of the congregation.

As the Senior Warden, I want to thank Tim and Lynn for what they have done for Trinity Church, and we will miss them both (and hope they come back to visit!)

On a more personal side, it has been a pleasure knowing Lynn and working with Tim and I have value their guidance and friendship.

Strawberry Festival Follow -Up

Thank you to all who volunteered at last Saturday's Strawberry Festival. We were blessed with a lovely summer day and welcomed lots of families and guests coming on to our campus. It was a very successful day both monetarily and with regard to community engagement. All our many volunteers, both young and well seasoned, added their energy and enthusiasm to serving our steady stream of guests.

Thank you all! Ellen, Cissie & Phoebe

New Building and Challenge Match Update

So, thank you to all those who have stepped up to help. We still have a Capital Campaign Matching Challenge to raise $75,000 by Trinity Sunday, June 15th. So far, we have gotten $54,425 in new donations in response to this challenge.

Please consider helping us raise the remaining funds to complete the new building. Right now, it looks as though we will need to activate the line of credit to pay bills after July.

Scammers Are Phishing Again

Please be cautious of text messages and emails from un-known sources. A parishioner received an email from "Rev. Timothy Safford" BUT the email address (leadpastor502@gmail.com) was not his email. PLUS, the message was vague and generic. The staff of Trinity would not ask for your assistance without clear purpose. We would never ask for gift cards or $$$. Do not respond to these text or emails. Better to Report as SPAM and Block.

Trinity Church Reading Group:

At our final meeting before our summer break, we decided to read the following two books over the summer.

"Why We Remember: Unlocking Memory’s Power To Hold On To What Matters", by Charan Ranganath The author takes us on a tour of the mind and the brain and how memory plays in nearly every aspect of our lives.

"The British Are Coming", by Rick Atkinson This is the first in his trilogy of the American Revolution, taking us through the first 21 months of the Revolution. The saga is full riveting details and untold stories of the first chapter of our country’s history

Enjoy the summer, as we have enjoyed our meetings together, and we will meet again after Labor Day in September.

Cheers,

Anne

The Trinity Altar Society is happy to assist you in providing flowers as a beautiful symbol of what we offer to God in our worship. Whether to honor a loved one’s memory, to celebrate a special occasion, or simply in thanksgiving, it only takes a phone call or an e-mail to Chris Pimentel, cap5182@cox.net
