A message from the Rector
We had an incredible Christmas at Trinity Church, and our celebrations are not yet complete! This Sunday is our second Sunday of Christmas and on Tuesday, January 6 at 6pm we will worship on the Feast of the Epiphany with a Celebration of New Ministry - I will be officially instituted as your rector. The Bishop will be here to officiate and we will welcome clergy and other guests from around the city and diocese.
While I am eager to welcome those who don't often worship at Trinity, the people who matter most to me at this Celebration are the members of this parish. While my particular role among you as rector will be a central part of the service, this is meant to recognize the ministry we share together at Trinity. I hope you will join us!
One of the exciting things about our Epiphany celebration is that it will be the kick-off event in our Tricentennial year. Construction of our historic church building began in 1726. The Celebration of New Ministry will be only one of many wonderful events planned throughout our Trinity300 year. Keep reading for more information!
It is overwhelming to consider the ministry that has been happening in this place for three centuries. I am so honored to be a part of the vast story of Trinity Church. I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday, and to our celebration on Tuesday!
With deep gratitude,
Meaghan

Celebrating Trinity's Tricentennial Year
This year our church building is 300 years old—forever linked to being fifty years older than the founding of the nation—it clearly calls for celebration! A half-century ago, in 1976, during America’s Bicentennial—Trinity and Newport celebrated in style—with special events, solemn and festive worship services, Tall Ships, a Royal Visit and dedication of Queen Anne Square, welcoming dignitaries (including President Ford) and a summer filled with civic pride, patriotism and prayerfulness.
The Trinity300 Committee has been at work, for two years, preparing to honor our history, our treasures, our traditions, our campus and our landmark sanctuary—and share it all with Newport and our many expected visitors.
We will be offering a wide-range of programming—primarily through the summer months—that may be enjoyed by the parishioner, resident and visitor alike. While several aspects are being finalized and subject to adjustment, please view the exciting schedule of events we have in store. We will be updating our community with additional developments and adjustments, as they happen, and look forward to enjoying a year of celebration with all of you.
We invite you to consider volunteering and/or assisting our efforts financially to defray the costs of these events (honoraria, receptions, musicians, printing, mailings, etc.), as these expenses are not part of our yearly operating budget. If you would like to participate, please consider “$300 for 300” or any amount that may be appropriate for you. A donation link is available on our website, or you can send a check to the church with "Trinity 300" in the memo line.
Thank you and Happy 300!

Stewardship Season
To all of you who have sent in your pledge of giving for 2026, thank you!
Here’s where we stand today:
- We’ve received 98 pledges.
- 12 of those pledges are new - that’s fantastic evidence of our growing congregation.
- 42 of those pledges increased over last year. Thanks for your increased generosity.
- $335,000 pledged so far, with more good news to come.
Thanks,
Terry
If you have not yet pledged, we would be grateful for your participation. Pledge cards can be found in the back of the church or you can pledge online. Members of the stewardship team will be reaching out to people who haven't yet pledged in the coming weeks!

We continue collections for Lucy's Hearth, this week. Lucy's Hearth is a 24-hour emergency and transitional shelter in Newport County serving children and their families who are experiencing homelessness. We have supported Lucy's Hearth many times through our Pumpkin Patch, and they have a list of food needs that are tailored to families in particular. If you can bring any of the items from this list to church with you in the coming weeks, we will be sure to deliver the food to Lucy's Hearth. If you have questions about this effort, please email Diane Myers.
