The Trinity Church e-Tower

for

Third Sunday after Pentecost

June 14, 2026

8 AM and 10 AM Worship

Dear Friends,

Isn't this space just begging for a party?

I agree!

But seriously, hear me out.

I've spent a lot of time in our choir loft lately, and every time I'm up there I'm conscious that we are in such a unique moment in our church's history. It is only in this year that we can catch a glimpse of the space where our organ typically resides, where we can walk across the balcony without navigating platforms or a central organ console, and when we can stand in the center of the balcony and look across to the pulpit. After our new organ is installed not one of us will see this area like this again, because it will be full of organ pipes and our restored case and our magnificent choir for many generations. As far as Trinity's story goes, this is a once in a lifetime chance to see some of our building in this way.

So I'm inviting you to come hang out with me up here. On Sunday evenings in the summer I'll be hosting small groups for a little food and drink and good company in the balcony. A member of our vestry will serve as my co-host, and we hope that you will join us on a week that works for you. The goal for this time is three-fold:

  1. To give me a chance to continue to get to know you.
  2. To give you a chance to get to know one another.
  3. To hang out where our organ will soon reside, and to give us a brief chance to talk about the project and field questions.

I have wanted the opportunity to gather with smaller groups since I started as your rector but frankly, things have been a bit busy since I started. I'm excited for this opportunity, and the chance to spend some time together in a different way.

Please consider this a personal invitation, and email Caren at parishadmin@trinitynewport.org to let you know what date works for you.

I look forward to seeing you in the balcony!

With gratitude,

Meaghan

A Trinity 300 Event

Friday, July 10

5:00 pm - 7:00 PM

 Panel Discussion

Trinity Church in collaboration with the Newport Restoration Foundation invite you to a celebration of Queen Anne Square’s 50th anniversary.

Beginning in 1969, Trinity Church and the Newport Restoration Foundation worked closely with the Newport Redevelopment Agency to create a “square recalling the best of the nation’s colonial past for the inspiration of present and future generations.” The square was dedicated to the public in July of 1976 by Queen Elizabeth II and has remained an important communal space for public gathering and memory.

Join us for a conversation with a panelist of historians, scholars, and preservation leaders to reflect on the legacy of Queen Anne Square and the impact of the mid-century preservation movement on the city of Newport—and the United States.

A reception with light refreshments and jazz music presented by Puddingstone featuring the Alan Bernstein Quartet will follow the discussion.

While this program is free and open to all, we ask that you kindly rsvp here

This program is part of Trinity Church’s 300th anniversary celebrations and is a Newport250 event, commemorating the story of our nation.

The panel includes:

Rebecca Bertrand, Executive Director of the Newport Historical Society

Trudy Coxe, CEO & Executive Director of the Preservation Society of Newport County

Ronald J. Onorato, Emeritus Professor of Art and Architectural History at the University of Rhode Island

Keith Stokes, Rhode Island Historian Laureate

Moderated by Gina Tangorra, Director of Engagement at the Newport Restoration Foundation

News from Trinity’s

 Outreach Team

Our food drive for Lucy’s Hearth has concluded. Thank you to everyone who donated items to the food drive these past months. Food insecurity is a constant reality for some of our neighbors on Aquidneck Island. During the summer, we would like to encourage Trinity parishioners to make food donations to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center located at 20 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard in Newport. Through its Hunger Service program, the Center provides food in its food pantries, including a mobile food pantry, meal programs, and groceries delivered to homebound seniors. Food donations are accepted Monday-Friday between 8:30 and 5:00 P.M. The items most needed can be found here. (Scroll down to “Food Pantry Needs.”) Please help our parish answer God’s call to each of us to alleviate suffering in our communities. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me here Elizabeth. Thank you!
