Message from the Rector:
Several years ago I was leading a conference up at camp when a colleague of mine introduced me to a brief youtube video that has stayed with me ever since.
The video shows a series of 40 drawings by an artist named Si Smith, and the drawings are an imagining of what's Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness may have looked like. I was very familiar with this biblical story, of course, but had never taken the time to really imagine what the full extent of those days may have been like.
I found myself very taken by the drawings. Jesus is depicted in prayer, in hunger, in thirst, as you might expect. But he is also depicted on some days in a state of play and wonder. I won't spoil it for you, but when the moments of temptation from the devil appear I found it thought provoking and creative.
As we enter the season of Lent together, this video invites us to consider how these days might unfold for each of us. Are you taking on a Lenten discipline? Is there a way this season feels set apart for you? Even in and throughout moments of challenge or sadness, is there room for play or wonder?
Despite our tendency to want to avoid times in the wilderness, those seasons have something to teach us about ourselves and about God. What might you learn?
With gratitude,
Meaghan

Please stay in the church following the service to hear about our life together at Trinity Church and to vote for new vestry members. Childcare will be available in the Glenn Family Center during the meeting, which we do not expect to last more than an hour.

LENTEN PROGRAM
Holy conversations about death and dying
On Wednesdays in Lent, join us for a simple meal of soup and salad and a program where we enter holy conversations about death and dying. This program is NOT intended to be full of gloom, but will instead invite us to consider what our tradition teaches about what happens when we die, what we hope for in a good death, what we hope our own end of life might look like, and what has helped inform and comfort us as we have considered death.
The program will be led by The. Rev. Meaghan Kelly Brower and Brad Carter, a seminary graduate and associate professor at the Naval War College.
The meal will begin at 5:30pm in the Hawes Room, and the program will run from 6-7pm.
Children are welcome at the meal and childcare will be provided in the Glenn Family Center during the program.
The program will run on the following dates:
Feb 25
March 4
March 11
March 18
March 25
Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we can be sure to provide enough food!

LENT MADNESS IS BACK!!!
Lent Madness began in 2010 as the brainchild of the Rev. Tim Schenck. In seeking a fun, engaging way for people to learn about the men and women comprising the Church’s Calendar of Saints, Tim came up with this unique Lenten devotion. Combining his love of sports with his passion for the lives of the saints.
This Lent, they are diving into a theme our world desperately needs: Bridge Builders & Community Makers. These holy humans did not just talk about unity and love, they practiced it, risked all for it, and built communities that still echo through the Church today. Their witness is not history. It is living inspiration for us, the global Lent Madness viewing public!
Join Fr. Christian and Fr. Michael for a fast, fun season preview as they break down a few favorite matchups and set the stage for another wild ride toward the Golden Halo. The first matchup will be posted Thursday 2/19. Head to LentMadness.org each morning to cast your vote and make your voice heard.
You can also jump into the conversation on Facebook, or Instagram.

We continue collections for Lucy's Hearth, this week. Lucy's Hearth is a 24-hour emergency and transitional shelter in Newport County serving children and their families who are experiencing homelessness. We have supported Lucy's Hearth many times through our Pumpkin Patch, and they have a list of food needs that are tailored to families in particular. If you can bring any of the items from this list to church with you in the coming weeks, we will be sure to deliver the food to Lucy's Hearth. If you have questions about this effort, please email Diane Myers.
