“O Judge of the nations, we remember for you with grateful hearts the women and men of our country who in the day of decision ventured much for the liberties we now enjoy. Grant that we may not rest until all the people of this land share the benefits of true freedom and gladly accept its disciplines. . . .”
Like scripture, the prayers asks as many questions as provides answers. What is the difference between freedom and “true freedom,” and what, specifically, are its “disciplines?”
I’ve always turned to the great jurist of the last century, Lenard Hand, “Liberty is not the ruthless, the unbridled will; it is not the freedom to do as one likes. . . . A society in which citizens recognize no check upon their freedom soon becomes a society where freedom is the possession of only a savage few.”
Blessed Sunday is coming, and happy Memorial Day.

New Building and Challenge Match Update
Members, you may have noticed the progress that has been made on the new Education and Administration Building. In the last weeks they installed the Belmont Memorial, Wifi, the kitchenette, and started to install the wood flooring. We are moving fast to a July move-in date.
Financially, it is projected that we need an additional $100k to ensure that a mortgage is not needed.
So, thank you to all those who have stepped up to help. We still have a Capital Campaign Matching Challenge to raise $75,000 by Trinity Sunday, June 15th. So far, we have gotten $35,300 in new donations in response to this challenge.
If you haven't yet contributed, please consider helping us raise the remaining funds to complete the new building. Not having a mortgage will make it easier to cover any new expenses related to maintaining and growing our programs.

The History and the Future of the Trinity Church Organ
a presentation by Frederick Jodry
Honyman Hall, Trinity Church
Sunday June 1st, 5 pm
with wine and cheese
An Organ Study Committee was formed in the summer of 2024, to explore the question of what would it take to build a new Organ for Trinity - possibly in conjunction with the 300th Anniversary of our building in 2026. The Committee has done considerable work over the past 6 months, and we would like to share our ideas with the Congregation and the Community.

Trinity Church Reading Group: The next meeting will be June 16, 2025 at 5PM. This group will be reading The Secret Life of Sunflowers, by Marta Molnar. The book is about a Hollywood auctioneer, Emsley Wilson, who finds the diary of Vincent van Gogh’s sister-in-law, Johanna Bonger. who has inherited Van Gogh’s paintings. Bonger was a young widow with a baby and very poor. Although she has inherited these paintings they are not worth very much much. But somehow, in the end, Johanna Bonger introduces Van Gogh’s legacy to the world. The book has been described as one of the most beautiful stories with all of the emotions from tears to lightheartedness
