The 22st Sunday after Pentecost,
October 20, 2024
8:00 a.m. & 10 a.m. Services
| |
Two things:
- Canon Dena Cleaver-Bartholomew of Bishop Knisely's office returns this Sunday for the second session to develop the search profile for your next Rector. Your attendance at the (admittedly) long meeting is essential to having an honest, accurate and effective document that will attract the best candidates to apply to be Trinity's next Rector.
-
Is the current election season getting on your last nerve? Here are my suggestions: Vote early (I did!) and say this prayer from the Book of Common Prayer when you're watching the same political ad for the fourteenth time during a baseball or football game: Almighty God, to whom we must account for all our powers and privileges: Guide your people in our nation in the election of officials and representatives that, by faithful administration and wise laws, the rights of all may be protected and our nation be enabled to fulfill your promises. Amen.
Timothy Safford, Interim Rector

Stewardship in Four Parts, 1 per week.
Part 3 of 4
How much to give?
Most members start with a weekly donation that fits comfortably into their budget.
Then they move into a growth phase - when their pledge increases year after year, and sharing their assets (financial, as well as time and talents) becomes more of a priority.
At some point, they reach a stage where a significant portion of their income (and time) is dedicated to church and other sharing. Their giving feels “enough”, and they begin to think of themselves as generous people. Feeling generous is a wonderful thing!
Give ‘til it hurts?
By no means… give until it feels wonderful.

Listening for God's voice in the Sunday morning Bible study
When we finish a scripture in church, the reader says, "Hear what the Spirit is saying to God's people." Through meditating on a passage of scripture, we hear God still speaking. This is the goal of the Sunday morning Bible Study which now meets in Honyman Hall each Sunday at 9 a.m. Prepare by reading the passages in advance, click here.
