The Twenty-second Sunday after Pentecost

November 9, 2025,

8 AM and 10 AM Worship

A message from the Rector

Last Sunday after our glorious All Saints Day celebration in the morning I was able to stick around for the afternoon wedding of Caprice Serafine and Matthew Peltier. I was not the officiant, so I had the opportunity to sit up in the balcony and watch the beautiful ceremony from above. It was something to watch the church fill with people again, mere hours after our congregation had just filed out, and to witness another holy sacrament take place in our church. Well over 300 people encountered God at Trinity on Sunday, and it was incredible to behold.

That wasn't the only time I spent in the balcony this week, as several times throughout the week I wandered up to watch the progress of our organ case being gently removed for restoration. If you were with us in worship last week, you heard the announcement that we are moving forward with our organ project, anticipating a new custom pipe organ completed by the spring of 2027. While a temporary electric organ will be in place for our use over the next year, we will be without an organ for the next few weeks. Our worship will still be blessed with beautiful music, and, as is always the case, a new configuration or our regular worship pattern will allow us to see and experience one another and God in new ways.

Our Psalm assigned for this Sunday is Psalm 98, and we will speak and say the familiar words: "Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things."

God is surely doing marvelous things at Trinity Church right now - and you can be sure, we are going to sing about!

With gratitude,

Meaghan

Special Announcments

Stewardship Season

The temperature has fallen, and the pumpkins are filling Queen Anne Square… that can only mean one thing: it’s Pledge Season!

We center our pledge drive this year on words that we sing every week as our offerings are brought to the altar: we “praise God from whom all blessings flow”. We believe that all we have and know and love are God-given gifts. Those gifts flow to and through us - like rain that waters the earth and collects into rivers that run to the sea, we are a part of the blessing that nourishes us, and all that we touch.

We’ve been much blessed this year - with a completed campus and a wonderful Rector. Now we need to work together to ensure that those blessings continue to flow beyond ourselves.

Thanks,

Terry

Invitation from the Silver Tea Crafters

The Craft Group has been meeting faithfully on Tuesday afternoons to ready their wares for the Silver Tea to be held on December 6th, in the Hawes Room. But before you see this year’s creations, we would like to offer you the opportunity to bring home something special!

The crafters will welcome your donations for entries into a special drawing for this year’s Advent Calendar. This wooden calendar will be on display each coffee hour from now until November 16th, when the winner will be drawn.

The suggested donation is $5 per entry, or 3 entries for $10.00.

Of course, we thank you for your support! -The Silver Tea Crafters

Trinity’s Annual Silver Tea

The pumpkins have now made their exit from Queen Anne’s Square and that means that we are turning our sights to the next Trinity event on the agenda!

In keeping with tradition, Trinity’s Annual Silver Tea will be held on Saturday, December 6th, from 1-4 PM in Hawes Room! This longstanding Christmas In Newport event hosted by Trinity Church, is another opportunity for us to open our doors to the greater community.

Our silver will be polished and the china brought out as we serve classic afternoon tea sandwiches and desserts amidst a background of holiday music. Admission at the door is $15 per person. There will be holiday arrangements, hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, ornaments, crafts and assorted goodies and fudge for sale!

There are several ways in which you can help to make this event a success. Do you have a secret talent that we don’t know about? Do you do needlecraft, knitting, painting, woodworking, sewing, jewelry making, ceramics, mixed media, or any other type of craft? If so, we are looking for your donation of handicrafts to be for sale on the artisan table at the tea!

We will need people to make tea sandwiches, bake “pick-up” tea desserts, or to make jams, jellies, fudge or candies to offer for sale. Workers will also be needed in shifts on the day of the tea. More to come on these tasks in the weeks ahead.

For now, save the date of December 6th, and think of how you can help to make this event successful once again, and kick off the holiday season with us! Please click on the names below to request more information. Thank you!
