A message from the Rector
Dear Friends,
Last Sunday afternoon over 60 of us gathered in the Hawes Room to hear the Meli Bahmann Jazz Trio. Meli played piano, Erik Lee was on drums, and Paul Del Nero was on bass (the three of them also blessed our morning worship with their music, along with Bill Longo on the trumpet). It was, indeed, a jazzy summer afternoon, and the music filled the warm air as we tapped our feet along to the beat.
The youngest member of the audience was a little girl probably not yet 2 years old. At the end of each song when the applause started she would enthusiastically join in, clapping her hands together and calling out “YAY”!
The experience of the music that day was incredible, and it was made even better by her joyful exclamation and enthusiasm. You could feel the room smile at the sound of her sweet voice.
It’s easy for us to remember why church is important during difficult times. We need one another for support and prayer and encouragement. The prayers we say with and for one another lift us up, and we are stronger for it. But we also need one another in times of joy and celebration. We need to cheer one another on, offering our enthusiastic encouragement at every opportunity. Remember that Jesus said that he has come so that our joy will be complete. We need one another in our sorrow, and we need one another in our joy.
We have much to celebrate in the coming weeks and months, especially as our program year begins and we look forward to our tricentennial next year. Even while we enjoy the last days of summer, many of our members are busy planning for the coming months. I believe it will be an exciting year for Trinity Church, and I can't wait for more joyful days to come.
YAY!
With gratitude,
Meaghan

We had a beautiful morning on Narrow River—plying the waters from Middlebridge to the Ocean—and back! Jim and Ellen Patterson, Diane and Chris Myers, Mary Jo Carr, Terry Abbott and Jeff Clark. We’d love to do it again, perhaps in crisp, early fall as colors begin. Please consider joining us—it was great, scenic fun! Photo taken by Jeff Clark.
The next adventure may be a biking trip. For more information, please contact
