Message from the Rector:
For almost five years I've had this photo hanging in my office. The young woman featured here was the head counselor one summer at the Episcopal Conference Center summer camp, a job that was often difficult and thankless. Emily was wonderful at managing the stressors of the job, and one day she took a break from her work to enjoy these bubbles. Someone captured this lovely moment in a photo. I have kept it close - a reminder of the importance of joy in all we do.
This Sunday in church we will hear one of my favorite readings from the gospel of Matthew: A portion of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount where Jesus says "You are the light of the world! You are the salt of the earth! But no one puts their light under a bushel but on a lampstand so all can see."
I have always loved the idea of letting our light shine so that others might give glory to God when they see it, but sometimes there's a little pressure around what that light might be. Do we have to have special skills? Keen intelligence? A series of unique talents? What if we don't have any light??
This photo of Emily reminds me that we can share our light simply by allowing ourselves to be fully present in each moment in front of us. We don't need to complicate this: we can simply accept God's invitation to joy and wonder and experience it fully - enough so that those around us can see it too.
So please - let your light shine!
Meaghan

LENTEN PROGRAM
We are not morose!:
Holy conversations about death and dying
On Wednesdays in Lent, join us for a simple meal of soup and salad and a program where we enter holy conversations about death and dying. This program is NOT intended to be full of gloom, but will instead invite us to consider what our tradition teaches about what happens when we die, what we hope for in a good death, what we hope our own end of life might look like, and what has helped inform and comfort us as we have considered death.
The meal will begin at 5:30pm in the Hawes Room, and the program will run from 6-7pm. Children are welcome at the meal and childcare will be provided in the Glenn Family Center during the program.
The program will run on the following dates:
Feb 25
March 4
March 11
March 18
March 25
Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we can be sure to provide enough food!

We continue collections for Lucy's Hearth, this week. Lucy's Hearth is a 24-hour emergency and transitional shelter in Newport County serving children and their families who are experiencing homelessness. We have supported Lucy's Hearth many times through our Pumpkin Patch, and they have a list of food needs that are tailored to families in particular. If you can bring any of the items from this list to church with you in the coming weeks, we will be sure to deliver the food to Lucy's Hearth. If you have questions about this effort, please email Diane Myers.

Music at Trinity
This Sunday!
The Newport String Project will perform on Febraury 8th at 3 pm in Honyman Hall in part of the Music at Trinity Series.
This program will feature the project’s resident ensemble, the Newport String Quartet, performing works by Mozart, Jimenez, Washington and Roustom.
This colorful program is a musical celebration of childhood, playfulness and memory. Inspired by the Jamestown Arts Center’s upcoming exhibit “Picturing Play”, the Newport String Quartet will perform an eclectic set of works that draw inspiration from children’s folk songs from Mexico, Haiti, Afghanistan, Mali, Syria and Ghana. Closer to home, Shelley Washington’s evocative Middleground depicts her memories of travelling cross country with family gathering memories of cycling, fireworks and ice-cream. The quartet will also perform Mozart’s beloved String Quartet in B-flat “The Hunt” which brims with optimism and delight. This heartwarming afternoon of chamber music is not to be missed.
Tickets available here.
