Lent is late in 2025, so plan now!

Lent is late this year: Ash Wednesday is March 5 and Easter is April 20, but it’s not too early to plan your participation in Trinity’s Lenten program. I want our entire congregation to observe a "holy Lent."

We’ll gather four Wednesday evenings, beginning March 12. Starting at 5:30 p.m. with a simple soup supper (I need a volunteer to coordinate this!), we will have a presentation, small group discussion, and Compline, and be on our way home at 7:30 p.m.

Look in the weeks ahead for more details and registration info, but mark your calendars now!

Prayers for the Nation and the New President

As is custom in the Episcopal Church, there is a special service of Prayer for the Nation on the day following the presidential inauguration, January 21, at 11 a.m., from the Cathedral in Washington. You can view the service here.

Here is the booklet that will be used, and I encourage all to say prayers for the new President, his administration, the Congress and all in authority. I recommend saying the prayers on page 6 and 7, which we will also use on Sunday morning. Timothy Safford

Listening for God's voice in the Sunday morning Bible study

When we finish a scripture in church, the reader says, "Hear what the Spirit is saying to God's people." Through meditating on a passage of scripture, we hear God still speaking. This is the goal of the Sunday morning Bible Study which now meets in Honyman Hall each Sunday at 9 a.m. Prepare by reading the passages in advance, click here.

Tower Lighting

“The tower will be lit on Wednesday, January 22, 2025

to the glory of God and in loving memory of my beloved husband,

John B. Lawton, on our 70th Wedding Anniversary.

We were married in Trinity Church on January 22, 1955”. – Beverly Lawton

Stewardship 2025

Step by step, we are getting closer to our goal of $360,000. A big thank you to all of our members who added their pledge this week.

With 109 pledges received to date (1/15/25), your generosity totals $339,940. The Stewardship team is delighted to see that 13 of those pledges are new this year, and many of the pledges are increased over last year.

If you have not yet made a pledge for 2025, it’s not too late. You can make your 2025 pledge online with a click here.

If you need a pledge card or coaching to enter your pledge online, Terry Commodore or Molly, the Parish Administrator, can help with that.

Trinity Church Reading Group: The next meeting will be February 10, at 5PM. This group will reading “James”, a novel, by Percival Everett. Remember Huckleberry Finn? Please contact Anne Glenn if you are interested. Click on her name to write an email.
