Dear Friends,

This week and next week marks the start of another school year for the children and young people in our congregation and for those among us who are teachers.

I live with two students and one teacher, so I'm keenly aware of what a tender time it is when we stand on a threshold of the new year, full of hopes and fears and possibilities.

Over the last few weeks we have tended to students in our community by purchasing school supplies that will be distributed via the Boys and Girls Club of Newport County early next week. Thank you for your participation in this effort. Today is the last call for purchasing an item off the wish list, or you can bring $25 gift cards to Walmart when you come to church on Sunday!

At our 10am service Sunday we will offer a blessing on all students and teachers as they begin this year. If you happen to be a student or teacher, feel free to bring your backpack or work bag with you if you want - we'll pile them together as we say our prayers and ask for God's blessings. But the most important thing to bring is yourself!

If this season finds you at a new beginning, my prayers are with you. I hope you see God's love and presence at every turn.

Back to School Blessing:

This Sunday!

Sunday at the 10am service we will offer a special blessing for teachers and students of all ages as they begin another school year. Students and teachers are invited to bring their backpacks or work bags to church for the blessing to represent the year ahead. Not a problem if you forget your bag - just bring yourself!

Trinity Family Beach Dinner: September 7, 5:30 - 7:30pm

Join us on Monday evening, September 7th at Third Beach in Middletown for a beach dinner with the families from Trinity Church. Bring your own picnic dinner and a beach chair and park in the lot at the south end of Third Beach closest to Sachuest Point. Enter the beach from that parking lot and look for our group on the left!

Prayer Shawl Group

This group meets every second and fourth Thursday of the month in the Hawes Room. Meetings are on a haitus during the summer and will resume September 24th. All those who crochet or knit, experienced or inexperienced are welcomed to join. Please contact Pam Alexander for more information.

Community Meal

Join an amazing Newport community service and work with fun good-hearted people. You will go home knowing you made a difference in a person’s day. Please consider volunteering at the Community Meals, the 1^st, 4^th and 5^th Monday of the month. You can sign up here:
