The Sixth Sunday After Pentecost, July 20, 2025, 8 AM and 10 AM Worship

“Have Stole, Will Travel”

This Sunday, July 20, I will be at Holy Trinity, Tiverton, to Celebrate Holy Eucharist at their 10 o’clock service. My dear friend, K Casenheiser is their Deacon in Charge, and will be ordained priest in November, “God willing and the people consenting.” Until then, she has to find priests to offer Communion to the congregation each week. My agreement with Trinity is to have one Sunday off a month, so I was able to help K last month, and this Sunday.

This Sunday at Trinity The Reverend Norman MacLeod will fill in for me. He is no stranger to Trinity, and here is what he has given me to share with you.

“The Reverend Norman MacLeod is a retired priest living in Newport. His spouse, Elizabeth Stevens, and Norman, have been attending Trinity for about two years. He has enjoyed preaching and celebrating at Trinity before and is delighted to be able to do so again.”

I will be back at Trinity on Wednesday for the noon Healing Service and Eucharist, and be with you next Sunday as we say goodbye to Deacon Christine Cassels. (And wait until you see the photograph she wants as her farewell!)

Blessings, The Reverend Noël Bailey Robinson, Parish Associate

New Building Update

As you may have noticed the construction of our new Education and Administration Building is in its final stages. They have completed the interior except for minor touchup painting. The Belmont Memorial has been installed in its new location. The mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work is complete. Behan Bros’ team is finishing the decking and walkways this week. We are expecting to get the Certificate of Occupancy by July 21st. The plan is to have the office furniture moved into the new building in preparation for Rector Meaghan Brower joining Trinity on August 1st.

This building is Phase Two of our plan. Phase One was the renovation and upgrade of the Honyman Hall kitchen, so we could support our expanding Community Meal Program. Phase Two includes, creating classroom space for our expanding Sunday School Program, providing easy access to the Rector and staff for everyone in the congregation, and providing ADA approved access to our facilities.

Please consider helping us complete the new building without a loan.

Internet Scam Targeting Trinity Members

In case you have not heard....

I am sad to report that many Trinity folks are receiving SCAM emails and text messages.

The message claim to be from Tim Safford with the sender email address of

timsaffordtrinitynewport@gmail.com

and

rev.trinitynewport@gmail.com. (an old inactive email address)

and

leadpastor502@gmail.com

Please report as a Phishing scam and block the email. Tim's email at Trinity Church is inactive. And you will not hear from him via Trinity Church.

Tim or anyone else associated with the staff of Trinity Church would never ask you to purchase Apple gift cards, or to send money through the mail or venmo/paypal etc.

The messages tend to be vague and generic.

Always look at the email address of where the email is coming from. It may say Tim's name but check the senders' email (address where the email it came from). This is true for all Trinity Staff.

Apologies for any inconveniences this may have caused. I am so sorry this is happening. Please share with other parishioners. This is definitely an email to gossip about to avoid other possible future scams.

Trinity Church Reading Group:

At our final meeting before our summer break, we decided to read the following two books over the summer.

"Why We Remember: Unlocking Memory’s Power To Hold On To What Matters", by Charan Ranganath The author takes us on a tour of the mind and the brain and how memory plays in nearly every aspect of our lives.

"The British Are Coming", by Rick Atkinson This is the first in his trilogy of the American Revolution, taking us through the first 21 months of the Revolution. The saga is full riveting details and untold stories of the first chapter of our country’s history

Enjoy the summer, as we have enjoyed our meetings together, and we will meet again after Labor Day in September.

Cheers,

Anne
