November 17, 2024: The 26th Sunday after Pentecost

8 a.m. & 10 a.m. Services

An Exciting Weekend!

On Saturday, the Trinity Choir performs Faure's majestic and moving Requiem at 4 p.m. in St. George's School Chapel. A rare treat! Details below.

On Sunday morning, you'll feel the excitement of seeing the steel structure rising for the new education and administrative building. We will have a ground-breaking (concrete-smashing?) ceremony following the 10 a.m. service.

And it's pledge ingathering Sunday, when we collectively secure the future of Trinity Church with our stewardship commitments.

A Sunday so grand that it requires two cakes at the coffee and fellowship after!

Timothy Safford, Interim Rector

Listening for God's voice in the Sunday morning Bible study

When we finish a scripture in church, the reader says, "Hear what the Spirit is saying to God's people." Through meditating on a passage of scripture, we hear God still speaking. This is the goal of the Sunday morning Bible Study which now meets in Honyman Hall each Sunday at 9 a.m. Prepare by reading the passages in advance, click here.

Stewardship 2025

Pledge ingathering Sunday is November 17, when we put all of our commitments on the communion table and ask God's blessing on our gifts and the ministry of our church. If you have misplaced a pledge card, speak to an usher or reach out to Terry Commodore, chair of the Stewardship Committee.

As of Thursday afternoon, we are very grateful for the 60 pledges received for $216,635. We are at 60% of our 2025 goal of $360,000.

If you wish to make your 2025 pledge online, please click here.

Commitment Sunday and Construction Start Celebration

As you may have noticed, there have been activities on the old Carr-Rice foundation. Behan Bros has been doing preparation work on the site. Major construction will be starting very soon.

So, we will be celebrating Commitment Sunday and the Construction Start on November 17th after the 10 am service with an update and an enhanced coffee hour.

Please plan to attend the celebration of this incredibly significant achievement.

Trinity’s Annual Silver Tea:

In keeping with tradition, Trinity’s Annual Silver Tea will be held on Saturday, December 7th, 1-4 PM in Hawes Room! This longstanding Christmas In Newport event hosted by Trinity Church is another opportunity for us to open our doors to the greater community.

Our silver will be polished and our china brought out as we serve classic afternoon tea sandwiches and desserts amidst a background of holiday music. Admission at the door is $15 per person. There will be holiday arrangements, hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, ornaments, crafts and assorted goodies and fudge for sale!

There are several ways in which you can help to make this event a success. We are still looking for crafters and artisans who would be willing to donate their talents to the craft table. We will need people to make tea sandwiches, bake “pick-up” tea desserts, or to make jams, jellies, fudge or candies to offer for sale. Workers will also be needed in shifts on the day of the tea.

Save the date of December 7th, and think of how you can help to make this event successful once again, and kick off the holiday season with us!
