Message from the Rector:
This Sunday morning before our 10am service we will gather on the steps of Honyman Hall to bless our palms, and to prepare our procession into the church for our Palm Sunday service.
I confess that I have always found Holy Week difficult, because the moments that led up to Jesus' death on the cross are difficult to hear. And while we won't walk through his final days until Thursday and Friday of this week, we will suddenly be immersed into the story of his crucifixion mere minutes into our service on Sunday. The contrast from our joyful entry into church waving palms and singing to the Passion narrative and the crowd yelling "Crucify him!" is always jarring.
And yet, even as we move through Palm Sunday, as we share Eucharist together and wash feet on Maundy Thursday, as we remember the cross on Good Friday - resurrection awaits.
I walked the property a few days ago and my eyes rested on the earth, reminding me that new life comes in the buds breaking through, even while the air is still cold and dank. This promise of new life comes at just the right moment, while we remember death, draw close to one another in love in its midst, and look forward to the joyful proclamation we know is coming.
The air will have a chill in it on Sunday, and yet I will look forward to drawing close to you as we say our prayers, sing Hosanna, and wait for what is to come.
With gratitude,
Meaghan

Our Legacy:
A Cherished, Historic
Treasury of Silver.
Among the many physical and tangible assets
and treasures that Trinity has been blessed with over the centuries is a collection of fine silver. Since 1703, with the first gift of a chalice and patten sent by the governing body of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel, the church has been the beneficiary of blessings in the form of memorial, gifted and commissioned liturgical silver that is still in regular use today.
Since the first recorded evidence in 1880—and likely before—a quiet, committed and faithful group of parishioners have prepared, maintained and cared for our sacred silver—vessels and other precious items—lovingly stewarding theircondition and availability for all manner of worship services and rites of the church. The Altar Society of Trinity Church is responsible for this collection that represents significant artistic, historical and community value—serving as enduring “crown jewels” that have recorded our history of faith and devotion for over three centuries.
On April 12th, a “Silver Sunday” presentation will take place, after coffee hour, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, where we will have the opportunity to see, learn about and discuss some highlighted items in depth. Our very own Mary Sinnott, longtime “Directress” of the Altar Society and visiting silver expert Spencer Gordon, will bring these curated items from our silver collection to life, in terms of their significance, provenance, quality and the underlying human story. Please join us as we experience together a rare glimpse into our past and the faithfully departed who inhabit it!

We continue collections for Lucy's Hearth, this week. Lucy's Hearth is a 24-hour emergency and transitional shelter in Newport County serving children and their families who are experiencing homelessness. We have supported Lucy's Hearth many times through our Pumpkin Patch, and they have a list of food needs that are tailored to families in particular. If you can bring any of the items from this list to church with you in the coming weeks, we will be sure to deliver the food to Lucy's Hearth. If you have questions about this effort, please email Diane Myers.
