A message from Noël-
Our church calendar can make me dizzy sometimes – just the other day, it seems, we were in Bethlehem as Jesus was born in a stable. A king, yet no royal palace or fine linens for this baby. Then we jumped ahead to Epiphany and the visit of the “Wise Men” (astrologers, Magi, kings – we have given them names but we don’t know much about them, except that they came “from the East”) Jesus would have been about two years old then.
This Sunday we jump ahead to Jesus as an adult, being Baptized by John. Jesus sees the heavens “opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heave said, “This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.”
And Jesus, full of the power of God, shows us that power in caring for others. He brings those who have been pushed out of the community back into the fold. He heals, forgives, blesses, and always shows God’s love for us to accept or ignore.
In her sermon for the Celebration of New Ministry – a new chapter for the life of Trinity and for Meaghan and her family – Becky Binns gave us ways to live God’s love for ourselves and everyone around us. I’m sure that Meaghan will have things to say about living our Baptismal promises when she preaches on Sunday. I will be at St. Michael’s, Bristol, these next two Sundays, so I will have to watch the video from Trinity to find out.
I will be preaching about Baptism, and will use a benediction that gives good ideas for living our Baptismal promises.
May the Lord Jesus, who loves with a wounded heart,
be your love forever.
May the Lord Jesus, who serves with wounded hands, help you serve others.
May the Lord Jesus, who walks on wounded feet, walk with you to the end of the road.
May you see the face of Jesus in everyone you meet,
And may everyone you meet see the face of Jesus in you.
Blessings, my friends, see you on the 25th.

Celebrating Trinity's Tricentennial Year
This year our church building is 300 years old—forever linked to being fifty years older than the founding of the nation—it clearly calls for celebration! A half-century ago, in 1976, during America’s Bicentennial—Trinity and Newport celebrated in style—with special events, solemn and festive worship services, Tall Ships, a Royal Visit and dedication of Queen Anne Square, welcoming dignitaries (including President Ford) and a summer filled with civic pride, patriotism and prayerfulness.
The Trinity300 Committee has been at work, for two years, preparing to honor our history, our treasures, our traditions, our campus and our landmark sanctuary—and share it all with Newport and our many expected visitors.
We will be offering a wide-range of programming—primarily through the summer months—that may be enjoyed by the parishioner, resident and visitor alike. While several aspects are being finalized and subject to adjustment, please view the exciting schedule of events we have in store. We will be updating our community with additional developments and adjustments, as they happen, and look forward to enjoying a year of celebration with all of you.
We invite you to consider volunteering and/or assisting our efforts financially to defray the costs of these events (honoraria, receptions, musicians, printing, mailings, etc.), as these expenses are not part of our yearly operating budget. If you would like to participate, please consider “$300 for 300” or any amount that may be appropriate for you. A donation link is available on our website, or you can send a check to the church with "Trinity 300" in the memo line.
Thank you and Happy 300!

A Note of Thanks!
An abundance of gratitude to my Party Planning Posse: Alexandra Day, Melissa Moniz and Chrissy Pimentel for their time, thoughtful suggestions and culinary talents. It was an honor for me to work together to celebrate such a joyous occasion to welcome or 32nd rector. AND my sincere appreciation for those who contributed to the event by setting up, creating such beautiful food offerings, serving, and those who remained to clean-up. Lastly Thank you and to all who attended. You added joy, warmth and love to the evening. Kudos to all! “It takes a village” and what a warm and incredible village Trinity Church is.

We continue collections for Lucy's Hearth, this week. Lucy's Hearth is a 24-hour emergency and transitional shelter in Newport County serving children and their families who are experiencing homelessness. We have supported Lucy's Hearth many times through our Pumpkin Patch, and they have a list of food needs that are tailored to families in particular. If you can bring any of the items from this list to church with you in the coming weeks, we will be sure to deliver the food to Lucy's Hearth. If you have questions about this effort, please email Diane Myers.
