Second Sunday of Advent

December 5, 2025,

8 AM and 10 AM Worship

A message from the Rector

On Tuesday evening we hosted a Meet and Greet in the Hawes Room for our Sunday School families. While the children get to know one another on Sunday mornings, I thought it would be nice for all of us to be together for a meal and short program. Well over 50 people, more than half children, gathered for a spaghetti dinner. After the meal the children and adults split up. The children headed over to the Glenn Family Center for crafts and games while the adults had a chance to talk.

It was cold and windy and rainy outside, but warm and lovely indoors. We hope to have dinners like this one sporadically throughout the year, and if your family missed this one for whatever reason, please feel free to email me so we can be sure to include you in future programs!

Part of what made the evening so special was the group of women who showed up to help host and support our program that evening. Pam Alexander, Donna Ellis, and Nancy Murray worked all afternoon to prepare a lovely meal for those gathered. Elaine Clement - a new member herself at Trinity - helped serve the meal and then assisted with the children’s program. And of course, Dolores Bauer came to warmly welcome the families and to share information and careful instruction about our upcoming Christmas pageant. As a parent of young children myself, it felt incredible to be fed and cared for by these wonderful women.

I continue to be in awe of the way you all show up to love and to serve not only the people of Trinity Church but of our wider community. There are too many ways to name in one article in this newsletter, but I see examples of your generosity over and over again. You are the hands and feet of Christ, and it is an honor to serve alongside you.

With deep gratitude,

Meaghan

  • $238,644 pledged so far, with more good news to come.

Thanks,

Terry

Upcoming Events and Ministry Opportunities

Christmas Clean-up

In preparation for our Christmas Services, we are looking for Volunteers to help clean the glass chimneys on the concise lights in the Sanctuary on December 13th. We need a few individuals to remove the glass chimneys and a few individuals to wash and dry them. If you are willing to assist, please contact Norris Commodore or Donna Ellis.

We continue collections for Lucy's Hearth, this week. Lucy's Hearth is a 24-hour emergency and transitional shelter in Newport County serving children and their families who are experiencing homelessness. We have supported Lucy's Hearth many times through our Pumpkin Patch, and they have a list of food needs that are tailored to families in particular. If you can bring any of the items from this list to church with you in the coming weeks, we will be sure to deliver the food to Lucy's Hearth. If you have questions about this effort, please email Diane Myers.
