Thousands of people came to dine al fresco, filling Broadway with tail-wagging pups, sidewalk chalk art, and smiling faces. Happy Pride Month! June brings a burst of color, vibrant music, and joyous celebrations to our streets as we honor our neighborhood and the LGBTQ+ family. Pride Parade 2024

Get your rainbow gear ready! The 53rd annual Chicago Pride Parade will take place on Sunday, June 30th, starting at 11 am. The parade begins at Sheridan and Broadway (3900 N. Broadway) and winds its way through the north side of the city, concluding near the intersection of Diversey Parkway and Sheridan Road in Lincoln Park.

It's possible to treat yourself to a nice sushi dinner without breaking the bank. Nori Sushi (954 W Diversey) has been in Lakeview East since 2009 and has since opened two other locations in Chicago! Nori has everything you look for in a sushi experience, such as fresh sashimi slices, signature rolls handmade by the executive chef, and delicious craft cocktails to pair with. Nori also has Japanese dishes that are hard to find at other sushi spots, like Tsukemono Pickles, Takoyaki, and Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancakes)! Last week, we paid a visit to Nori Sushi and could not have had a better experience.

The Lakeview East Festival of the Arts is Chicago’s premier fine art festival showcasing over 125 juried artists. The festival has been rated #1 Fine Arts Festival in Chicago, and #2 in the state of Illinois by AFSB. Each year the festival attracts over 45,000 attendees from all around Chicago, northwestern suburbs as well as patrons from all around the country! Chicago Drag Loves the World

On Friday June 21st, Lucy Stoole and The Metro present Chicago Drag Loves the World. Tickets are only $20 and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, The Sudanese Red Crescent, and Congo Children Trust. Attendees can expect hours of back to back jaw dropping and wig snatching performances, with headliners being Rupaul's Drag Race alumni Kahmora Hall and Denali, Dragula alumni Sigourney Beaver, and Palestinian Pop Princess Amira Jazeera.

Don't Worry- Alamo Drafthouse is here to STAY!

Last week, Sony Pictures made headlines by announcing their acquisition of Alamo Drafthouse, including all 35 of its theaters. Amidst the swirling rumors and concerns about the potential closure of the Wrigleyville location—the only Alamo Drafthouse in Chicago—fans can now breathe a sigh of relief. WGN confirmed in a press release on June 12th that this beloved movie theater will continue to operate, ensuring its cherished presence in the community remains intact. "We are beyond thrilled to join forces with Sony Pictures Entertainment to expand our company vision to be the best damn cinema that has ever, or will ever, exist now in ways we could only ever dream of,” said League. “They have a deep respect and understanding of cinema’s ability to both drive growth and create lasting cultural impact which aligns perfectly with everything Alamo Drafthouse stands for.”

Swing Dancing at Gallagher Way

Lets dance! New this year at Gallagher Way, Fizz Swing Dance will be hosting dance classes at the Wrigleyville park.

The night starts at 7 pm with an introductory lesson taught by one of Fizz's accomplished instructors - no experience required. You'll learn basic swing dance and a few moves to get you ready for the evening's social dance. Social dancing begins at 8 pm, with a live band or DJ spinning. Don't be shy, come out to this FREE event and swing dance like no one's watching! The first Swing Dance at Gallagher Way is on Monday, July 1st.
