Alderman Bennett Lawson Creates Neighborhood Councils
Attention Lakeview residents, if you've been looking to get involved in the community, now is your chance! The 44th Ward Alderman, Bennett Lawson, is creating four Lakeview community advisory councils for neighbors to get involved in various issues. The four new councils include:

A Parks, Arts and Green Advisory Council, which will focus on arts and culture, parks and recreation, green and open space and other green initiatives.

A Smart Streets Advisory Council, which will concentrate on pedestrian and bike safety, accessibility and infrastructure, public transit and public safety.

A Senior Advisory Council centered on senior advocacy, support and supportive networks to make sure the ward’s aging neighbors remain connected to the community.

A Planning and Zoning Council, which will focus on updating the 44th Ward Community Plan, reviewing development proposals and tracking citywide ordinances and development trends.

“I want to find people who are involved and get them plugged in and networked so we can be a strong community and build back some of what we’ve lost,” Lawson told Block Club.

If you're interested in joining any of the councils above, you can sign up using the links provided.

Chicago is making changes for new wages and benefits under the new “One Fair Wage" campaign. Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa and Ald. Jessie Fuentes introduced an ordinance to end the sub-minimum wage for tipped workers, giving restaurants two years to phase it out. Negotiations are ongoing for a compromise. Ald. Mike Rodriguez is additionally proposing one hour of paid leave for every 15 hours worked, offering over 15 days of annual paid time off. These initiatives aim to support workers, improve retention, and attract talent, although concerns exist about small restaurant impact. Read more about the ongoing conversations at city hall here.

Wrigleyville News & Updates
Kilwin's Wrigleyville has
Closed their Doors

We are sad to announce that Kilwin's in Wrigleyville has closed their door as of July 1st. This chocolate haven has brought smiles and satisfied stomachs to both residents and visitors for decades. Home to some of the best hot chocolate in the city, we will miss all the deliciousness they've offered over the years. Thanks for being there when we had a sweet tooth, were looking for a great gift, or when we just needed a little treat to get by.

Wrigley Field is in the Running for the 2025 Midsummer Classic
Wrigley Field has not hosted the MLB All Star Game since 1990! It was announced last week that Wrigley is in the running to host the 2025 Midsummer Classic.
"According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, Wrigley is one of four stadiums that is currently “in the mix” to host the 2025 edition of the game. His report also mentioned Atlanta’s Truist Park, Baltimore’s Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and Toronto’s Rogers Centre as potential candidates to host the game" (Yahoo). It's been 33 years since we last hosted, so fingers crossed Wrigley gets selected!

The biggest summer bar crawl in Chicago hits Wrigleyville every July! The Mustache Crawl is on July 29th this year. If you’ve never been, you’ve heard about this crawl since you were a little kid. It’s always been a myth, a legend that you might some day experience. Well, my friend. The time has come. It’s your turn. Join in on the fun of Chicago’s BIGGEST bar crawl with over 10,000 attendees expected!

Gallagher Way decided to take advantage of this cooler-than-usual weather we've been having by announcing the return of Winterland!
Last winter, Gallagher Way and Wrigley Field transformed into the North Pole. With dozens of vendors, hot cocoa galore, and even winter-themed rides. Winterland is returning in November, and they are already taking reservations for private parties!

Road Trip Snacks. Fill up. Let’s go. Some say traveling is about the journey, not the destination. Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams argues any worthwhile road trip is about the snacks — salty and crunchy pretzels, candy bars still ice cold from the cooler, buttery popcorn, and pit stops for drumsticks. The cellophane-wrapped foods we treat ourselves to at the gas station. The refreshing treats we crave to take the edge off of the heat radiating from the open road. Road Trip Snacks is a celebration of these nostalgic snacks in all their glory this summer. Visit Jeni's scoop shops to try this collection with a new flavor dropping weekly starting on 7/13!
