After 55 years in the neighborhood, Royal Home Entertainment is getting ready to say goodbye to its longtime Lakeview East storefront. Stop in before mid-June/early July to browse what’s left, make a reasonable offer, and wish Joe well as he clears out inventory and starts his next chapter with online sales and AV consulting. This is heartbreaking news to share. The Lakeview East Chamber is mourning the sudden passing of Xavier “Avi” De Yparraguirre, the beloved restaurateur behind Maison Marcel and Le Petit Marcel, following a tragic scooter accident. Avi brought warmth, beauty, and true hospitality to Broadway, and his loss will be deeply felt across our neighborhood.

A Sweet Sendoff for 2d Restaurant
After five colorful years in Lakeview East, 2d Restaurant will close its original location on May 25, 2026. The hand-drawn, photo-ready café gave us playful bites, plenty of “wait, take one more picture” moments, and a dining room unlike anything else in the neighborhood. While this chapter is wrapping up, founders Kevin Yu and Vanessa Vu are already sketching out what’s next, including new 2d activations and their upcoming matcha and Yubu café concept, Yu-Yubu.

East Lakeview Neighbors’ Night Out
East Lakeview Neighbors is hosting a casual Neighbor’s Night Out at Sheffield’s Wine & Beer on May 12 from 6–8 PM. Swing by to meet the new board, grab a drink, and gab about what’s happening in the neighborhood. A brief regular membership meeting kicks things off at 6 PM, with mingling to follow.
