Lakeview East Becomes Flavortown!

Extremely exciting (and delicious) news alert: TWO of our beloved Lakeview East restaurants were featured on the popular Food Network hit show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives!

Last Friday, El Mariachi Tequila Bar and Grill (3906 N Broadway) was featured on season 51, episode 4 Pizza, Latin, and Mac. Fieri was treated to two El Mariachi's most popular dishes: One was a Chipotle Adobo Shrimp Empanada infused with cilantro, served over a poblano cream sauce and topped with pickled red onions. The other dish is a Bottomless Mimosa Brunch favorite—a Fried Egg Birria Grilled Cheese, served with cotija cheese and guajillo French fries. Both of these dishes are available at the restaurant, come eat like the stars!

This Friday, February 14th, BITES Asian Kitchen is getting their moment in the spotlight! The two dishes that will be featured are the Beef Rib Ramen and the Braised Chashu Pork! Click here to view the recipes for both dishes, and be sure to tune in this Friday at 8 pm Central time to watch live!

A huge congratulations to both El Mariachi and BITES on this incredible achievement! These outstanding restaurants not only embody the spirit of Lakeview East but also showcase the rich and diverse culinary scene that makes Chicago so special.

To renew a sidewalk café, renew online using the permitting web portal  Apply_for_Sidewalk_Cafe_Permit.pdf

Sidewalk Café Operating Requirements

  1. A sidewalk café permit allows a restaurant or tavern to serve customers on the sidewalk, maintaining 6 feet of pedestrian clearance along the sidewalk, among other requirements.
  2. Sidewalk cafes must remain operational when set up on the sidewalk and may not be used for storage of tables, chairs, shoveled snow, or other items.
