The 45th running of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon is on Sunday, October 8, 2023! The route runs through our neighborhood, read on to see details on street closures and towing, and the full route! Good luck to all the incredible runners taking on the Chicago Marathon! May your strides be strong, your spirits high, and your finish line triumphant.
Towing and Street Closures:
No parking is allowed on the marathon course. Towing of vehicles on the course will begin at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2023. The Chicago Marathon will involve extensive street closures on Sunday, October 8, 2023. Streets in our neighborhood may be closed to traffic starting at 7:00 a.m. and continuing to 4:00 p.m. Attached are the following Chicago Marathon street closure materials:

As the MLB season nears its climax, our Chicago Cubs are right in the thick of the playoff race. Currently holding a spot in the Wild Card standings with a record of 82 wins and 74 losses, the postseason dream is very much alive.
The competition is fierce, with teams like Philadelphia and Arizona also in the hunt, but our Cubs have showcased resilience and determination throughout the season. With every game now carrying added significance, the energy and anticipation are palpable. Wrigleyville, let's continue to rally behind our team as they make their push for the playoffs. The road ahead is challenging, but with our unwavering support, the Cubs have every chance to shine in the postseason!

Step up to the plate for Chicago's youth during the 18th Annual Race to Wrigley 5K Charity Run, scheduled for this Saturday at Wrigley Field!
Runners will race through the Lakeview neighborhood before entering Wrigley Field, crossing the finish line just steps away from the Wrigley Field Marquee. As part of the race course, runners will also have the chance to run on the warning track on the field.
Proceeds from the race will benefit Cubs Charities, which is dedicated to mobilizing the power of sports to champion youth, families, and communities. Cubs Charities will also donate proceeds from personal fundraising to support Advocate Children's Hospital. When you run, your community wins!

Illinois Secure Choice
It’s easy to start saving for retirement through Illinois Secure Choice. You can automatically save a part of each paycheck in your own Individual Retirement Account (IRA). Your account stays with you if you change jobs and you can adjust your savings rate and investment elections to fit your savings needs.
Illinois Secure Choice is available to anyone who wants to start saving. It’s simple and only takes a few moments ̶̶ you can enroll today.
If your employer starts facilitating the program, you can be automatically enrolled in the program. Once enrolled, you will automatically start saving a percentage of your paycheck into your own IRA.

Currently, the minimum wage for employees (non-tipped):
$15.80 per hour for employers with 21 or more employees
$15.00 per hour for employers with 4 to 20 employees
The Illinois Restaurant Association has been successful in negotiating a deal with the City of Chicago in regards to Tipped Minimum Wage. It was proposed to eliminate tip credit by raising the minimum wage for tipped employees to $15.00/15,80 per hour.
Tipped workers are currently receiving:
$9.00 per hour for 4 to 20 employees
$9.48 per hour for 21 or more employees.
Please make sure you are paying the updated wages that were in effect on July, 2023.

Secretary Giannoulias Announces Skip-the-Line Program
at High-Volume DMVs
In an effort to improve customer service and eliminate the unpredictability of wait times at Illinois DMVs, Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias will implement the Skip-the-Line program on September 1.
Required appointments will reduce wait times.
Extended hours offer more availability.
ILSOS.gov offers a variety of services that do not require an in-person visit to a facility or office.
The Skip-the-Line Program includes:
Appointment scheduling — Customers will be required to make appointments for in-person visits at 44 of the busiest DMVs. All Chicago and suburban locations and select central and downstate DMVs will require an appointment for REAL IDs, driver’s licenses and ID card services, and in-car driving tests.
Vehicle-related services – such as titles, registrations or license plate renewals – do not require an appointment.
