Speed Friending

You've heard of Speed Dating, but have you heard of Speed Friending?

Table Talk Social is throwing a Speed Friending event at BITES Asian Kitchen on Wednesday, August 14th! Whether you've just moved to Chicago, you're looking to expand your social circle, or you're on the hunt for a BFF with similar hobbies, come meet new people and spark lasting connections.

It’s game day, Cubs fans, and we’ve got something that will make your day even better: Game Day Gourmet at Guaranteed Rate Field on July 25th. If you’re a fan of delicious food, great drinks, and, of course, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, this is the event for you!


Whether you’re heading to the stadium for the Crosstown Classic or you’re just in it for the food (we get it, it’s Chicago after all), Game Day Gourmet is the perfect way to kick off an unforgettable rivalry match. It’s all happening at Guaranteed Rate Field, where the Cubs will take on the White Sox in the crosstown classic, and you’ll be there to enjoy it all with a side of mouthwatering eats from some of Chicago’s best chefs!

BottlesUp! BeyoU Fund


$2,500 to a Female Entrepreneur! 

Calling all female business owners! BottlesUp is now accepting applications for their BeyoU Fund, an annual grant supporting an entrepreneur-in-need. Each year the Fund starts at $1,500, but grows thanks to event partnerships and generous customer donations. This year's total is currently $2,500! Istmo's One Year Anniversary Party

Chef Carlos Lopez Muñoz and the Istmo team are thrilled to invite guests to celebrate Istmo’s first anniversary with a special dinner that highlights the rich culinary and artistic heritage of Oaxaca. On Thursday, July 24th, this event will feature renowned artist Rufina Ruiz, who will not only showcase her exquisite clay plates but also cook alongside the team, bringing her artistic vision to life through food. Joining the celebration is acclaimed Oaxacan chef Rodolfo Castellano, as well as Chef Carlos’s parents, who will prepare a heartfelt family dish for the occasion. Juan Carlos Covarrubias, Istmo’s esteemed business partner and head of the beverage program, will be crafting a signature drink to complement the evening’s flavors. As a special keepsake, guests will take home a beautifully handmade plate and cup by Rufina Ruiz. In collaboration with Taller Lopez, the evening promises to be a vibrant celebration where art and gastronomy unite to honor the spirit of Oaxaca.

Small Business Grant

Dear LVECC Small Business Owners,

Main Street America in collaboration with American Express is now offering $10,000 in small business grants. The application window is fairly short as applications open on July 16 and close on July 31st.

 

Eligible grant expenses include but are not limited to:

Accessibility Upgrades (Examples: ramp, menu translation, accessible website redesign for visually impaired people, etc.)

Community Events and Programs (Examples: open mic night, public educational/​training workshops, hosting community fund raisers, partnerships with other small businesses)

Equipment and Inventory (Examples: point of sale device/​software, purchasing of items for sale, display cases, kitchen equipment)

Marketing (Examples: investing in social media campaign, building a website, etc.)

Operational Strategy (Examples: branding package, accounting software, business coaching, and other types of support that would increase the viability of your business)

Physical Improvements (Examples: signage, awnings, painting facade, new shelving, new lighting, etc.)

Sustainability Upgrades (Examples: solar panels, rain garden adjacent to business, investing in reusable/​compostable/​recyclable packaging alternatives, etc.)

Technology Upgrades (Examples: building an online storefront, online ordering system, or other e‑commerce platform)

*Note that utilities must not be more than $2000 or 20% of the requested funds.

*Note that payroll, debt/​loan repayment, and payment of invoices are NOT eligible uses of grant funds

The Mustache Crawl is Next Saturday


The largest bar crawl of the summer is happening on Saturday, July 26th, this year! The Mustache Crawl takes over Wrigleyville, starting bright and early at 10 am. With multiple bars offering breakfast buffets, you can hop out of bed, sport a mustache, and head on over to Wrigley!

Old Style Presents Brat Summer

Old Style will take over Mordecai for a pre-game on Wednesday, July 23rd, before the 1:20 pm game against the Kansas City Royals! The lunch is from 11 am to 2 pm, but at 1 pm they will be giving away a pair of Cubs tickets for a game later in the year!
