Shruti Box is a grassroots, artist-run studio and performance space in Chicago dedicated to uplifting South Asian and underrepresented artists.
Founded in 2024, the organization provides affordable access to high-quality recording, mixing, rehearsal, and performance opportunities.
Independent artists lack the initial investment needed to produce and mix high quality tracks that are viable in the current music industry. Further, no studio in Chicago keeps a wide range of south asian instruments that can be used to integrate into tracks.
Shruti Box fills these critical gaps for South Asian, POC, and multidisciplinary artists through technical resources and inclusive programming. Its mission is to create a culturally responsive environment where diverse voices can be heard and supported.
Through events, collaborations, and subsidized studio time, Shruti Box fosters a vibrant community and plays a vital role in expanding equity in Chicago’s arts and music scene.
