Lakeview East News & Updates
It’s hard to capture in words the love, joy, and sense of unity we felt on Sunday during this year’s Pride Parade. Surrounded by over a million people, we came together to celebrate authenticity, resilience, and the beauty of the queer community.
Being part of Pride is always an honor, and this year was no exception. From the colorful floats to the cheers echoing down every street, it was a moving reminder of the power of visibility, support, and shared joy. Thank you to everyone who made it unforgettable, whether you walked with us, helped bring our float to life, or showed your support from the sidelines. Your presence and energy meant the world. We’re already looking forward to next year. Until then, let’s keep the spirit of Pride alive every day.
Special thanks to our sponsors: Circle K, Mariano's, Ingmar James, Byline Bank, Sport Clips, JC Licht, GiftofHope, BLVD Vet, Flavin Electric, btone Fitness, Dance on Broadway, Best Western Hawthorne Terrace, Stark Security, and PRISM Benjamin Moore.
| | | | Pull out your red, white, and Cubby Blue. Fourth of July is on a Friday this year, giving us an entire weekend to celebrate! Go to the 1:20 pm Cubs game, an all-night Reggaeton party, live country concert, or attend a drag brunch! There's a party in the LVE. | | | | |
Dine Out on Broadway is back, back, back again! Next weekend, Broadway will be shut down from Belmont to Wellington, and all the restaurants and shops will extend onto the street! Cars and parking spots will be replaced with kids drawing with sidewalk chalk, tons of patio tables and chairs, happy dogs on leashes, and Chicagoans soaking up the summer sun.
Friday, July 11: 3 pm to 11 pm
Saturday, July 12: 9 am to 11 pm
Sunday, July 13: 9 am to 10 pm

Check out our Café Guide and discover your next favorite sip! | | | | June has come to an end, but Lakeview East is proud 365 days a year. Did you know Lakeview East is home to the most LGBTQ+ businesses in Chicago? We encourage you to keep the same energy you did throughout June- support queer owned businesses, entertainers, performers, and artists! Lakeview East is as wonderful as it is because of the active LGBTQ+ community that built and shaped this neighborhood. Shop small, shop local, shop queer! | | In Memoriam, Vito Cifaldi
Vito was more than just a regular face at our events—he was someone who truly showed up, no matter the circumstances. For years, he was a consistent and cheerful presence at nearly every event we held, always ready to lend a hand. Whether it was early mornings or long days, rain or shine, he was there. His support wasn’t just about showing up; it was about bringing a sense of warmth, humor, and kindness that made everyone feel welcome.
On election days, Vito made sure the poll workers stayed energized and well-fed, quietly taking care of everything so others could focus on the job at hand. It was that quiet, dependable care that had a lasting impact. His faith played a central role in his life. Involved in his church, Vito found joy and purpose there, and he gave back in countless ways. Whether it was organizing meals, offering support, or simply being there for others, he lived with a sense of commitment that made a difference. Vito was also the proud president of the Vikki Carr Fan Club, and he always shared stories about it with a sense of pride and humor. It was just one of the many ways he reminded us to find joy in the little things. Our community, from the Chamber of Commerce to his church family, will feel the absence of not just a volunteer, but a true friend. Vito left an impression everywhere he went—whether it was through a kind word, a helping hand, or a simple act of generosity.
We'll carry on his legacy in the work we do and the small, thoughtful gestures that made him who he was. Vito may no longer be with us, but his impact is felt in every act of kindness and every moment of connection.
We miss you, Vito. Thank you for always showing up.
