Lakeview East News & Updates

Little Monster’s Crawl is This Saturday!

Neighbors, Beware: This Saturday, Lakeview East will be crawling with little monsters! From 11 AM to 2 PM, our neighborhood-wide trick-or-treat event will have kids going from business to business collecting treats. Stop by the dozens of participating businesses for goodies for the kids, and even a few for you. Be sure to stop at the park on the corner of Grace and Clark in Wrigleyville for face painting, balloon animals, costume characters, and of course, candy!

During the duration of the Little Monsters Crawl, Nettlehorst will be throwing their Fall Festival on the front playlot on Melrose. They’re transforming the space into a fall retreat, complete with foliage and the spookiest decorations. There will be arts and craft activities for the little ones to engage with, and an onsite t-shirt and tote bag printing service. On sale food and drinks make this the perfect place to start your Monsters Crawl, or a pitstop halfway through!

If scary is your vibe, you’ll want to make sure to check out inside the school… They’re setting up a pumpkin light display and a haunted hallway for visitors to enjoy. Donations are suggested but not required, and the path is accessible to all. Enter if you dare!

Haunted Happenings

We’re already more than halfway through the haunting season, but there’s still plenty of frightful fun to be had! Our Haunted Happenings webpage is your one-stop shop for all things Halloween, from pumpkin painting parties, to spooktacular drag brunches and Halloween night parties. There’s so much going on, it’s scary how much you could miss.

Lakeview Landing Disability Housing Opened

Earlier this month, a brand-new 37-unit building opened at 835 W Addison St, providing rental assistance to mobility-impaired households. This important development is the result of a meaningful collaboration between the Over the Rainbow Association, Lakeview Lutheran Church, and the City of Chicago.

The six-story, fully accessible building is thoughtfully designed to offer affordable, independent housing for residents with disabilities. The building, already fully occupied, looks fantastic and marks a major milestone for the neighborhood, having broken ground just over two years ago. We’re proud to welcome this inclusive and impactful development to our community!
