We are proud to shine a spotlight on the Delta Center for Independent Living (DCIL), a vital community resource dedicated to promoting independence and self-determination for seniors and persons with disabilities in our region.
Founded in 1997 by local citizens concerned about disability issues, DCIL is a consumer-controlled, not-for-profit organization serving the Missouri counties of St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren. At its heart, Delta Center is driven by a powerful vision: a world of acceptance, access, independence, and self-determination for all.
Their mission is to partner with people with disabilities and their communities to remove barriers and promote positive changes leading to greater independence for all. DCIL offers a range of "core" Independent Living services designed to "coach" individuals toward greater self-determination. These programs are essential in empowering consumers to take control of their lives and include:
- Advocacy: Teaching self-advocacy skills to address personal needs and promote systemic change on disability issues.
- Transition Services: Supporting major life changes, such as moving from institutional settings back into the community or transitioning from school to adult life.
- Skills Training: Guidance on essential daily living skills, including financial management, healthy eating, and navigating government benefits.
- Equipment Exchange Program: Facilitating the acquisition and exchange of adaptive equipment.
- Information and Referral: Connecting individuals to crucial community resources.
DCIL is a cornerstone of support in our community, working every day to ensure every person has the opportunity to live a full, independent life.

"Hi, my name is Sarah Englert! I’ve lived in Saint Charles for the past six years, and I’m excited to be starting this new chapter. Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of roles, including event planning, marketing, and community engagement, and I really enjoy bringing people together and finding creative ways to make a difference.
I’m excited to meet new people, build connections, and find meaningful ways to contribute to our community. Outside of work, I enjoy music, art, and spending time outdoors, and channeling my creativity into hands-on projects and crafts. I’m originally from Northern Illinois, but now happily call Saint Charles home with my husband and our two fur babies."
We are incredibly excited about the energy and creativity Sarah brings to our team and look forward to the innovative events she will help create for our network!
