To all the mothers in our community - thank you.

Your impact is felt in countless ways, from the steady support everyone sees to the quiet sacrifices that often go unnoticed. It’s in those everyday moments, both big and small, that you shape families, strengthen communities, and make a lasting difference on the lives of others.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, have a great Mother's Day weekend! We’re grateful for all that you do, today and every day.

After more than four decades of dedicated service, Dr. Richard Talkington is retiring.

Dr. Talkington began his optometric career in 1978 after graduating from the Illinois College of Optometry. He established a private practice in Franklin, NH, where he provided compassionate care to his community for over 30 years. In 2015, he joined Laconia Eye & Laser Center, expanding services for his patients and becoming a valued member of the team.

A valued member of the New Hampshire Optometric Association, Dr. Talkington has been a strong supporter of the profession and his colleagues across the state.

Known for his clinical excellence, integrity, and genuine care, he leaves behind a lasting impact on patients and peers alike.

We thank him for his remarkable career and his support of NHOA, and wish him health and happiness in retirement. Please join us in congratulating him on this milestone.

OD to OD Referral Requested

Dr. Kara Feldberg (Windham, NH) is looking for a private practice in southern New Hampshire that has an on-site edger and stock lenses available for emergency glasses referrals. She has had two patients this week with corneal ulcers who needed to discontinue contact lens wear immediately but did not have backup glasses available.

Dr. Feldberg’s office does not currently have an edger on site.

If your practice may be able to assist with these types of urgent situations, please email the NHOA office and we would be happy to forward your practice information to Dr. Feldberg.

Virtual Affiliate Connections with Students & AOSA | May 19, 2026, 9 p.m.

NHOA is looking for 1–3 doctors to help represent New Hampshire during a special pre–Optometry’s Meeting / AOA+ student engagement event on May 19.

The program gives affiliates an opportunity to connect directly with optometry students through small-group breakout sessions organized by state. Participating doctors will have the chance to share perspectives on practicing in the Granite State and the unique opportunities available within our state and association.

It’s a simple but meaningful way to connect with the next generation of ODs while helping build relationships that can lead to future recruitment, leadership involvement, and possible in-person follow ups in Phoenix.

Contact NHOA if you are able to help represent NHOA make those important connections!
