The Embassy of Uganda as they celebrated Uganda’s 61st Independence Day Anniversary. This nation known as the "Pearl of Africa showcased its captivating art and culture at an exclusive reception.
The 2023 Civil Aviation Symposium led by our partners, JITTI where the H.E. Koji Tomita, Ambassador of Japan delivered keynote remarks emphasizing the importance of clean technologies and de-carbonization.
A conversation with the H.E. Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, Ambassador of Maldives on the critical issue of climate change.
The Defy Conference 2023, where we partnered with the Korean Innovation Center, Washington DC for the first time on a tech and AI focused summit.

61st Independence Day

WTCDC was proud to host the 61st Independence Day celebration for the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda. H.E Robie Kakonge, Ambassador of Uganda delivered remarks, highlighting the significant accomplishments of her mission in Washington and underscoring the crucial importance of U.S.-Uganda bilateral relations. The evening was a splendid showcase of Uganda's vibrant culture, storied history, and remarkable achievements.

Civil Aviation Symposium

The 2023 Civil Aviation Symposium themed “Achieving Aviation Sustainability: Challenges and Necessary Cooperation” was held on October 5th by JITTI featuring a number of leading experts from the industry. H.E. Koji Tomita, Ambassador of Jap an offered opening remarks recognizing the Japan-U.S. diplomacy and security efforts in the aviation industry. Featured keynote speakers in the program addressed the importance of air transport between Japan and the United States, particularly as there is great economic security in North America and Asia connections via Japan. Moreover, the symposium delved into the responses of these two nations to the pressing issue of climate change, recognizing it as a paramount concern for aviation professionals globally.

Korea Innovation Center, Washington DC

Defy Conference

The Defy Conference 2023 welcomed a delegation of 50+ Korean tech startup firms to Washington, DC to participate in a two-day innovation summit. The program showcased a dynamic display of innovative technology, Korean culture, and art. Fireside chats, led by remarkable moderators and panelists focused on the advancement of AI technology while developers participated in tech pitches to potential investors. H.E Hyundong Cho, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea offered opening remarks. Jasjit Singh, Executive Director at SelectUSA and Kevin Anderson, Secretary of Commerce in Maryland and other notable speakers spoke on the importance of the U.S-Korea partnership and foreign direct investment in the U.S.

National Cherry Blossom Festival

2024 Festival Launch & Official Artwork Reveal

On November 15, the National Cherry Blossom Festival officials and special guests joined together for the 2024 Festival Launch & Official Artwork Reveal. This occasion not only celebrated the four-month countdown to spring but also debuted “Fleeting Beauty,” the 2024 Official Artwork created by the talented Nicolas Shi. This masterpiece gracefully blends the iconic cherry blossoms with the distinguished backdrop of Washington, DC's monuments and a glimpse of the Tidal Basin.
