As we reflect on May 2026—recognized each year as World Trade Month—it was an honor for the World Trade Center Washington, DC to convene a dynamic series of events that underscored the vital role of international commerce in driving economic growth, innovation, and global collaboration. Throughout the month, we proudly brought together policymakers, business leaders, diplomats, and trade experts to engage in timely discussions on supply chain resilience, digital trade, market access, and emerging opportunities for U.S. companies abroad. These gatherings not only highlighted the resilience and adaptability of the global trading system but also reinforced our shared commitment to strengthening partnerships and advancing inclusive, sustainable trade.

WTCDC was honored to host His Excellency David Kerich, Ambassador of Kenya to the United States, for an evening conversation and networking reception in collaboration with the Washington Intergovernmental Professional Group (WIPG). | | |
During his remarks, Ambassador Kerich shared valuable insights into Kenya’s economic landscape, with particular emphasis on the growing trade and investment opportunities available to U.S. companies and partners.
The Ambassador also highlighted the importance of strengthening Kenya–U.S. relations through continued economic cooperation, dialogue, and partnership. The event provided an excellent platform for meaningful discussions, professional networking, and deeper engagement on the future of bilateral trade and investment between Kenya and the United States.

WTCDC welcomed a 10-member delegation from its sister organization, World Trade Center Chongqing, China, for a productive exchange focused on future collaboration opportunities. The visit included presentations on each center’s operations and business models, followed by discussions on identifying strategic synergies and developing mutually beneficial partnerships. Conversations also explored the possibility of hosting a collaborative exhibit in Washington, D.C. in early September 2026.
| | The WTCDC also had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Andre Brin, CEO of World Trade Center Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Mr. Jack Winram, Chief Development Officer of Sio Silica, a leading supplier of high-purity silica. The visit focused on exploring opportunities for mutual collaboration in trade and investment, while strengthening connections between Canadian and U.S. stakeholders. As part of the program, WTCDC facilitated a series of strategic meetings with key organizations and institutions, including the U.S. Department of State, the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District and more. | | In partnership with World Trade Center Dublin, the World Trade Center Washington, D.C. welcomed a delegation of more than 50 Irish company executives for a two-day business expansion program in Washington, D.C. The visit featured a series of high-level engagements, including a panel discussion, media meetings, a Capitol Hill visit, and a networking reception hosted by the Embassy of Ireland. A key highlight of the program was a panel curated by the Washington International Trade Association (WITA), which examined emerging trends in transatlantic trade and economic relations, while addressing the opportunities and challenges shaping today’s global business environment. | | | WORLD BEE DAY CELEBRATION | | In collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, the World Trade Center Washington, D.C. proudly commemorated World Bee Day 2026 with a full day of programming celebrating pollinators, sustainable beekeeping, and Slovenian culture. The event began at the U.S. National Arboretum with the unveiling and donation of a traditional Slovenian beehive, followed by a vibrant outdoor activation at Capital Harvest on the Plaza (CHoP) featuring Slovenian honey products, traditional desserts, wines, pumpkin seed oil, painted beehive panels, and educational exhibits on Slovenia’s beekeeping heritage. The day concluded with a public panel discussion on the importance of pollinators, bringing together community leaders to explore the vital role bees play in ecosystem health. | | | The WTCDC was pleased to partner with Washington Performing Arts (WPA) and DC Public Schools (DCPS) to host the 51st Annual Embassy Adoption Program (EAP)—a milestone moment in global education. As part of the festivities, the EAP hosted a Mini United Nations, bringing together more than 200 students in DC public school area. Under one roof, these young global citizens engaged in thoughtful dialogue on climate change and disaster preparedness for their adopted countries. The event underscored the power of global education and the vital role of youth engagement in shaping the future of international cooperation. | | | Further strengthening WTCDC’s longstanding relationship with the diplomatic community, the organization partnered with the Embassy of Zimbabwe to host the 46th Anniversary of Zimbabwe’s Independence Day on April 24. The celebration welcomed more than 200 guests, including representatives from U.S. government agencies, members of the diplomatic corps, and diaspora business leaders. The event reflected the Embassy’s ongoing engagement with WTCDC through its continued participation in Winternational and other collaborative initiatives, underscoring the strong partnership between the two organizations. | | On May 6, WTCDC partnered with the Embassy of Tanzania to host a business luncheon commemorating the 62nd Anniversary of Tanzania’s National Day. The event brought together approximately 100 guests, including senior officials from the U.S. State Department, the D.C. Government, business leaders, and members of the diplomatic community, providing an opportunity to celebrate the strong ties between the United States and Tanzania while fostering dialogue on trade, investment, and economic cooperation. | |
