| | | THE NEED FOR FOSTERS IS URGENT . . . | | |
We are currently OUT of kitten fosters and have NO more room in our shelter. Sadly, we will have to turn away helpless kittens without relief. We are desperate and begging for your help.
YOU can be the one to make a difference in their lives at this critical time when we are in URGENT need. Any space you have to offer is better than returning these precious kittens outside.
If you would like to foster, please fill out a foster form on our website at https://forgottencats.org/foster-a-cat. Forgotten Cats will provide a training manual and medical care for all foster cats. You provide the basic necessities: litter box & litter, food (Purina cat or kitten chow), bedding, and love.
Pick up would take place at our shelters in either Willow Grove, PA or Trainer, PA (whichever is closer to you).
We also have plenty of adult cats who need a break from the shelter if you’d prefer an older cat.
We are grateful for any help - together we can make a difference.

Ralph Waldo Emerson Would Have Smiled
On Our July Spotlighted Volunteer, Lee Snarr
by Mary Ann Emely
| | |
When he said “It is not the length of life, but the depth” Ralph Waldo Emerson must have been thinking about someone like the Forgotten Cats’ volunteer that we are celebrating this month, Lee Snarr. Despite the fact that Lee has only been one of our volunteers for less than a year, Lee has quickly and exponentially stepped up his game and become an integral part of the Trainer clinic, an overall indispensable and go-to volunteer! The depth of his commitment to Forgotten Cats is palpable!
Until two years ago, Lee firmly considered himself a dog person, proud human dad to Leo and Louie, 13-year-old miniature pinschers – little dogs with giant personalities. When he lost Leo in April of 2020, Lee thought he would allow time to grieve and wait a while before getting another dog or two. His friend, Staci, a cat person, had other ideas. Lee said Staci had rescued and fostered many cats and kittens and was always telling him to get a cat because they were so much easier for a working person to take loving care of.
In March of 2021, Staci was fostering a litter of six kittens and when Lee visited her, two of the kittens were “all over him” he reports. “They wouldn’t leave my side. That was when I decided to adopt one of them – but Staci said ‘two is always better than one.’ So, I adopted both of them in July 2021 – orange tabbies named Tom and Sawyer.”
| | |
Lee said he fell in love with them almost immediately. But as a new kitten dad, he found he was constantly calling Staci with questions about how to do something, or what to do in a certain situation with them. To learn more about caring for cats (and because he had just plain become a committed cat person!) Lee started volunteering at the FC Trainer shelter in January 2022 – located very near his Linwood home.
| |
His life as a Forgotten Cats volunteer began with doing feed and clean at the shelter on Mondays, his day off from his job of 27 years as a Wawa manager. He says he enjoyed meeting the cats and learning how, despite great differences in color and attitude, each cat was just as amazingly lovable as the next one. He says he has also been amazed by how many great people he has met at Forgotten Cats, and whom he now considers friends.
After about a month at the Trainer shelter, Karen on the FC meds team there asked him to join the team and choose a night to administer medications to the shelter cats. He quickly became the Friday night volunteer for giving meds to the sick babies.
Next came an adoption event at one of the PetSmart adoption centers and he asked another Trainer volunteer, Kim, to help him transport cats to the event. He also cleans the kennels at adoption events. He tells us that Kim has since become his Forgotten Cats “rescue wife”.
| | |
Next, since he was already doing feed and clean at the Trainer shelter on Monday mornings, Olivia Westley asked Lee to volunteer Monday afternoons at the Trainer clinic, which he also enjoys, and Olivia said he got quickly up to speed on the duties he needed to perform there. Lee tells us that Mondays are a long day for him, where he volunteers from approximately 7 am until 5'ish.
And he’s also become a foster, but then soon became a foster fail to his beautiful Sandy, a lovely brown tabby!
| | |
He said the only challenge he faces as a Forgotten Cats volunteer is not being able to say “no” – because he wants to help as much as he possibly can.
Lee’s life outside of FC, in addition to his job at Wawa, includes outings to the beach casinos, playing bingo and being with his family, which includes his mom and three sisters.
The photo at right is Lee with his mom and aunt vacationing in Niagara Falls, New York.
Lee, Forgotten Cats is grateful that you have stepped up and so quickly become an integral part of our operations. Volunteers like you are invaluable! Thank you!
| | Please allow us to introduce senior cats Bobby & Ronan! | | What is better than one senior cat? Two senior cats!! Bobby and Ronan are both approximately 8+ years old and both only have 2 teeth - that's 4 teeth between the two of them! The boys are both FIV+, but that's no big deal because FIV+ cats can live with non-FIV+ cats. While they can be adopted separately, how great would it be for these two buddies to be adopted together? | | |
This is Bobby (FCID# 02/01/2022 - 101). Bobby is estimated to be 8+ years old and has only 2 teeth, just like his foster pal Ronan. He is laid-back and enjoys petting time. He is happy when he is able to watch the outside world from the nearest window. Bobby has been introduced to the resident dog and is becoming more comfortable every day.
Bobby is a super chill cat as most FIV+ cats are. FIV+ cats can live and play with non-FIV+ cats. Bobby is playing with his foster buddy Ronan (FCID# 02/27/2022 - 401) and with his foster family. Please submit our no-obligation adoption application for a meet & greet or to adopt Bobby and/or Ronan: https://forgottencats.org/adoption-application/.
| | |
This is Ronan (FCID# 02/07/2022 - 401) - he is dog AND cat friendly! Like his foster buddy Bobby (FCID# 02/01/2022 - 101), he is estimated to be 8+ years old and has 2 teeth.
Ronan is a gentle soul - loves his food and enjoys his mealtime. He enjoys looking out the window and watching the active world outside. He is FIV+, but that is never an issue. Because of his mysterious past, it takes him a little time to warm up to humans. Once that barrier is crossed, he is very affectionate.
| | Featured Cats - Levitt and Peanut! | | |
Levitt - Levitt is a playful, curious and full-of-personality 1-2 year old orange tabby. He has a sleek and unique coat that has stripes on his legs and spots on his sides and back. His eyes are striking and the color of golden honey! He looks like a tiger and a leopard all in one!
Levitt is a confident kitty who gets along with all cats and has become best friends with his foster’s dog. Even her barking doesn’t bother Levitt, and she barks a lot! He loves to get the zoomies around the house with his animal friends. He also enjoys being with people! He loves sleeping next to his human foster sister each night and snuggling up next to her on the couch to hang out.
Levitt loves to explore, play with wand toys, and watch birds and squirrels outside through the window. He is a really silly boy and makes us laugh when he plays with his toys. You can also find him lounging near his people if he decides to take a nap. He truly loves to be where the activity is and will follow you around just to see if he can help you with what you’re doing!
Once you meet him, you’ll see how affectionate Levitt is! He loves giving “head bumps” and getting pets under his chin. He will flop over on the ground for some more pets and love!
Levitt has spent some time at a rescue, and you can tell how grateful he is to have a space of his own to run, stretch and play. He will be an amazing addition to your home and only add to the love and entertainment there!
To arrange a meet & greet with Levitt, please complete our no obligation adoption application. FCID# 03/24/2022 - 24

Peanut - Peanut is a beautiful black and tan tabby. She was adopted as a kitten at Christmastime in 2013. Sadly, for her, due to a home medical emergency, she found herself back with Forgotten Cats in June 2022.
Peanut is currently in our Willow Grove shelter. After having a loving home for so many years, Peanut would very much like to be in a home environment again. FCID# 11/12/2013 - 131
If you would like to offer Peanut a foster or forever home, please submit our no-obligation adoption application or foster application:

| | | VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT THE TRAINER CLINIC/SHELTER! | |
|
This is an opportunity to help cats whose ONLY medical treatment during their lifetime may be when they go to our clinic. Volunteering at the Trainer clinic is an important and serious under-taking and we are looking for the few ready to make the commitment.
Clinic Volunteers need to commit to one specific day a week at the clinic. The reason for this is that we are dealing with the lives of the cats and we need to make sure that our volunteers know the clinic procedures and this can only be done by volunteering on at least a once-a-week basis.
We will train. No medical background required.
IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS INTERESTED IN THIS POSITION, PLEASE CONTACT US AT info@forgottencats.org - please include your phone number.
| | | | |
Volunteer at our Trainer Shelter (located in Delaware County, near Claymont, DE) to care for our cats while they anxiously await adoption or release back to their colony.
Our shelter volunteers are responsible for basic feed and clean of the cats in our care. Shelter volunteers are also encouraged to assist with laundry, dishes, and cage/carrier sanitization whenever possible.
Of course, you can squeeze in some cuddle and play time with our adoptable kitties! Time commitment is one day per week for 2-3 hours, preferably before 1pm.
IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS INTERESTED IN THIS POSITION, PLEASE CONTACT US AT info@forgottencats.org - please include your phone number - or complete a volunteer application: https://forgottencats.org/services/volunteer/
