Friends and Supporters,

The report is out! The Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC) and PlanRVA (our regional planning agency) have released their report on extending the Pulse BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) westward from Willow Lawn to Short Pump.

They found it would increase jobs, property values, and economic activity. It would also connect city and inner suburban residents to the jobs and shopping along the corridor and at Short Pump.

If our region is to grow sustainably and save farms and forests while improving access to jobs and opportunity, then converting strip commercial corridors into transit-oriented, walkable and bikeable neighborhoods is key. The study shows that there are acres of parking lots along the corridor that we could transform into mixed-use development along the Pulse Corridor.

It will be important to combine the Pulse BRT with wide sidewalks, well-marked and signalized crosswalks, medians, pedestrian-scale lighting, and bus shelters and benches to improve safety for everyone using the road.
