THE LATEST
Aimed at increasing the voices of North St. Louis City and County residents at the civic decision-making tables, the 2023 Neighborhood Leadership Fellows Cohort is calling on residents from the St. Louis Promise Zone to apply!

Let's produce more equitable regional policies for neighborhoods of North St. Louis City & County!

Application deadline: Friday, November 4, 2022.
There is a lot of buzz among those of us working on energy efficiency, climate protection, and green building regarding the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). This historic climate legislation was passed by the U.S. Senate this past summer and is projected to drive down greenhouse gas emissions by 40%. If your inboxes are like ours, you are probably receiving a flurry of notices about webinars, roundtables and more related to both the IRA and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Here are a few things to know and a few more opportunities to learn more!

  • Tax incentives for both commercial & residential buildings.
  • Tax incentives for homes pursuing clean energy and energy efficiency.

Currently, many federal agencies are collecting stakeholder feedback on the IRA in the form of Requests for Information (RFI). Agencies include:

"...not only can government entities take advantage of this deduction but new provisions that allow tax-exempt building owners, such as nonprofits and tribal entities, to allocate deductions to the architects, engineers and design build contractors responsible for designing the specific building energy efficient systems." -CNR

Virtually, Tuesday, November 15, 2022 @ 12:00 pm CST join the West North Central U.S. Green Building Council chapters discussing the optimization of the design and operation of integrated, high-performance buildings. Explore how smart buildings can support LEED and green building.

Panelists will present on specific projects and opportunities.
"Reducing environmental impact while increasing healthy living can seem complex and even overwhelming, but MGS offers a clear path forward through an annual tracking and recognition program for Missouri K-12 Schools..."

MISSION - VISION - EQUITY

To initiate, develop and accelerate the implementation of green building concepts, technologies and principles that promote environmentally responsible, prosperous and healthy places to live, work, learn, and play.

We recognize that we are a predominately white organization – our staff, our leadership, and our membership. As an organization, we recognize that we have unintentionally contributed to the status quo of injustice and systems that are racist. We know that environmental degradation and climate change disproportionately affect communities of color. We are working to do our part to address and breakdown systemic and institutional racism while understanding our own implicit biases. Learn more about our Equity and Inclusion Initiatives.
