My work experience brings a Facilities Management/Owner's Representative perspective to the Building Energy Exchange.

so much of our work is with people, pure and simple.

Explore the concept of Whole-School Sustainability which results when practices aimed at reducing environmental impact, improving health and wellness, and increasing sustainability literacy are

holistically integrated throughout a school's physical place, educational programming, and organizational culture.

Hear from Midwest exemplars of Whole-School Sustainability regarding their
approaches and the impact of this work in their school communities; including our very own Green Schools Manager, Hope Gribble and 2022 Green Building Showcase speaker, Dr. Sharonica Hardin-Bartley, Superintendent at The School District of University City.
The 2022-23 Green Schools Quest (GSQ) kicked off this week, and we’re thrilled to have more than 50 schools, each paired with an amazing Green Mentor, participating!

Each school/mentor team will work together over the next six months to implement student-driven, no/low-cost sustainability projects and many will win cash prizes and awards for their accomplishments.

We look forward to seeing the creative solutions they devise and implement!

We recognize that we are a predominately white organization – our staff, our leadership, and our membership. As an organization, we recognize that we have unintentionally contributed to the status quo of injustice and systems that are racist. We know that environmental degradation and climate change disproportionately affect communities of color. We are working to do our part to address and breakdown systemic and institutional racism while understanding our own implicit biases. Learn more about our Equity and Inclusion Initiatives.
