Details
Completed in 1938, Soldiers Memorial Military Museum was built to honor U.S. military veterans from St. Louis. In order to preserve this beloved landmark and museum and bring it up to 21st century museum standards, the Missouri Historical Society undertook its sustainable renovation and restoration in 2013. The project, which earned LEED Gold® in 2018, modernized building performance standards, made the museum ADA-accessible for the first time, and achieved significant waste minimization during interior and exterior restoration and upgrades. Since LEED certification, Missouri Historical Society has carried this waste reduction ethos into its operations by achieving certification as a TRUE (Total Resource Use & Efficiency) zero-waste facility. Don’t miss the opportunity to tour this unique site and hear in-depth about its sustainable renovation and operations!
