14 de junio de 2022- Ante 400 líderes mundiales de la industria del turismo, el gobernador de Puerto Rico, Pedro R. Pierluisi destacó cómo, a pesar de los retos, Puerto Rico se ha convertido en un ejemplo de resiliencia y de innovación en la industria turística.

Credit discrimination is illegal

Under federal law, it’s illegal for banks, credit unions, mortgage companies, retailers, and any other companies that extend credit to discriminate against you. So during the application process or when making a credit decision, a creditor must not consider — among other things — your race or sex, including sexual orientation and gender identity. (But a creditor may ask you to voluntarily disclose this information because it helps federal agencies enforce anti-discrimination laws.) You have the right to know within 30 days of filing your completed application whether it was accepted or rejected — and, if rejected, the reason why. The lender must tell you the specific reasons (for instance, “You haven’t been employed long enough”) or how to find them out.

Deepfakes use artificial intelligence technology to create a seemingly real video or audio clip that mimics a person’s face, voice, or both. This kind of synthetic content is often used to spread misinformation by impersonating politicians and celebrities on social media.

However, that’s not the only use. Scammers are currently using deepfakes of corporate executives to steal from large companies. As the technology improves and becomes easier to use, we’ll likely see scammers using deepfakes to target individuals and small businesses too.

The Biden administration has offered several proposals to reform the taxation of U.S. multinationals, addressing profit shifting as well as a broader view that offshoring is bad for the U.S. economy and firms should be encouraged to “reshore” as much activity to the United Sates as possible. Contrary to the Biden administration’s claims, raising taxes on cross-border investment would hurt U.S. economic growth and jobs. Research shows that FDI creates jobs in the U.S. and raises workers’ wages and productivity.
