NEW YEAR'S OFFICE HOURS: Please note that the Prince of Peace Office and the Food Pantry are closed today, Wednesday, December 31, 2025 and tomorrow, Thursday, January 1, 2026. From all of us in the Prince of Peace Office, Happy New Year!

THE DEACON’S DEN:

THE TOP 10 NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

I remember on the old Dave Letterman show, how he often had a “Top 10” list of some current topic and they were usually very funny. So, as we all get ready to celebrate the arrival of 2026, what could be more appropriate than listing the “Top 10” New Year’s Resolutions that would help guide our Christian Spiritually.

1. Deepen Daily Devotion: Commit to daily time in prayer and reading the Bible (e.g., 20 mins daily) to strengthen your relationship with God. (Psalm 55:17)

2. Practice Radical Forgiveness: Intentionally forgive those who've hurt you and reconcile with others, as Ephesians 4:32 encourages.

3. Cultivate Gratitude: Actively thank God for blessings daily, shifting focus from lack to abundance (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

4. Love Your Neighbor: Show Christ's love through acts of kindness, service, and being a true friend, especially in adversity (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

5. Live with Integrity: Let your actions, words, and thoughts reflect your faith, focusing on what is true, pure, and honorable (Philippians 4:8).

6. Steward Your Body: View physical health (diet, exercise, rest) as a spiritual matter and a way to glorify God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

7. Share Your Story: Tell someone your Christian testimony at least once a week to encourage others and build faith. (Matthew 28: 19-20)

8. Pray for Your Leaders: Pray specifically and intentionally for your pastors and church leaders. (Hebrews 13:17)

9. Set Your Mind on Things Above: Combat worldly distractions by focusing on heavenly, eternal things rather than earthly pursuits (Colossians 3:2).

10. Be Generous: Practice generosity with your time, resources, and even smiles, reflecting God's abundant love (2 Corinthians 9:7).

Prayer of the Week

May the courage of Mary be yours,

that you may be bold enough to listen to angels.

May the faithfulness of Joseph be yours,

that you may be strong enough to embrace the unknown.

May the wisdom of Elizabeth be yours,

that you may be wise enough to seek after hope.

May the curiosity of Zechariah be yours,

that you may be doubtful enough to be surprised.

God grant you the blessing of Immanuel,

that you may know you are never ever alone.

AMEN!

(prayer by Bishop Dean K. Johnson)

THIS ADVENT, BE THE LIGHT – OUTREACH INGATHERING:

From Ashes to Faith

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Altadena faced devastation from the Eaton Fires 10 months ago, but their spirit remains strong. As we prepare for Christ's coming, your generosity during this Advent/Christmas season offers hope to their community. Here are three ways to easily donate: the POP Advent/Christmas envelope (memo line, "St. Mark's"); the QR code below; or the ingathering jar in the aisle. Thank you for answering this call!

Condolences to the family and friends of Normand Aguilar. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at Prince of Peace Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM with a reception following in the Reasoner Family Center. May his soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon him.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

Wishing you all a very blessed holiday season! Our first Prayer Shawl Ministry meeting for 2026 will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the Guild Room, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. BIBLE BLOCKBUSTERS: Joseph, A Hero’s Journey! — Coming Soon

Starting this Sunday, January 4 at 10:00 AM, kids are invited to step into an exciting new Sunday School series where the Bible comes alive! Through Joseph’s story, children will discover the key stages of a hero’s journey—the call, the challenge, the setback, the rise, and the triumph—and watch these moments unfold in his life.

Even more exciting, they’ll learn how these same stages show up in their own lives. By the end of the series, kids won’t just admire Joseph as a Bible hero—they’ll see that every challenge is a chance to grow, every decision matters, and each of them can choose to be a HERO for God.

God bless you and all the children Jesus entrusted in our care!

Blessings,

Alma Fountain
