Welcome and Announcements

Shared by Brud McWhorter

Opening Words

Led by Brud McWhorter

One: Who are we and what are we called to do?

All: We are the sensitive and responsive ones called to

create a world where every person is radically affirmed and barriers between people become bridges of inclusion, justice, and spirituality.

Call to Worship

Led by June Miner

One: Welcome! You who woke early and you who slept late; you who come often, and you who don’t.

All: Whether we are first or last or somewhere in between, there is room for all of us, and more than enough grace to go around. Let us celebrate the Spirit of Life and Love together.

Singing Our Welcome Gather Us In

Please stand in mind, body, or spirit by Marty Haugen

Shared by Clayton Freed

1. Here in this place a new light is streaming,

Now is the darkness vanished away,

See in this space our fears and our dreamings

Brought here to you in the light of this day.

Gather us in, the lost and forsaken,

Gather us in, the blind and the lame.

Call to us now, and we shall awaken;

We shall arise at the sound of our name.

2. We are the young, our lives are a myst’ry,

We are the old who yearn for your face.

We have been sung throughout all of hist’ry,

Called to be light to the whole human race.

Gather us in, the rich and the haughty.

Gather us in, the proud and the strong.

Give us a heart so meek and so lowly;

Give us the courage to enter the song.

3. Not in the dark of buildings confining,

not in some heaven, light years away,

but here in this place, the new light is shining,

now is the Kingdom, now is the day.

Gather us in and hold us forever,

Gather us in and make us your own;

Gather us in all peoples together,

fire of love in our flesh and our bone.

Centering Prayer

Shared by Rev. Dr. David Hodgson

Spirit of Life and Love, we gather today with hearts open to your transforming presence. We ask that You cultivate within us a spirit of true generosity. Expand our vision so that we see stewardship not just as what we give, but as how we live, how we love, and how we advocate for one another.

Make us generous with our attention, that we may truly listen to those whose voices have been marginalized. Make us generous with our assumptions, that we may extend grace, curiosity, and empathy to those with whom we disagree. Make us generous with our resources, that we may hold our privileges loosely and share our abundance to dismantle systems of inequality. Make us generous with our hope, that we may stubbornly believe in a world where everyone has enough.

Break down the walls of scarcity and fear that tell us there is not enough to go around. Instead, root us deeply in the reality of Your abundance, where love multiplies whenever it is shared.

Guide our words, inspire our thoughts, and challenge our comfort today. May our time together equip us to go out into the world as conduits of Your radical hospitality and justice.

Invitation to Give

June Miner

We are called to make real the sharing of the gifts God has given to us. Let generosity of being happen. Nothing more is required.

In our offerings, we share not only measurable treasures of time, talents, and resources, we radically commit ourselves to sharing immeasurable gifts of forgiveness, grace, compassion, acceptance, and loving concern with each other and with ourselves.

In response to our celebrations and the deep goodness of life, our offerings for the celebration of life, in this place and beyond, shall now be received.

Sending Forth Song Free to be You and Me

Shared by Clayton Freed

There’s a land that I see where the children are free.

And I say it ain’t far to this land from where we are.

Take my hand, come with me where the children are free

Come with me, take my hand, and we’ll live…

Chorus

In a land where the river runs free.

In a land through the green country.

In a land to a shining sea.

In a land where the horses run free.

And you and me are free to be, you and me.

I see a land, bright and clear and the time’s comin’ near

When we’ll live in this land, you and me, hand in hand.

Take my hand, come along, lend your voice to my song.

Come along, take my hand, sing a song...

Chorus
