Church School and Youth Ministries

Nursery Care and Preschool - Rm 208 (ages 3 to PreK)

9:15am-11:00am

Church School 10:45am - Second Floor Classrooms

Church school will be meeting in rooms 215 and 216 in the Parish House following 9:30 Liturgy. We continue learning from Genesis with the story of Joseph and the 7-year famine. We will prepare for our upcoming lesson about All Saints day in the Episcopal Church.

The Redeemer Youth Group RYG, will be meeting Sunday/today, from 4-6 pm. We will start with some outside activity and move inside to continue our discussion of the film Captain Fantastic. Despite the title, the film wrestles with the challenges of parenting in the 21st century, and the effects of our choices on our children. It is a profoundly uncomfortable story to watch, and forces the viewer to consider why they are so uncomfortable. Is it because we find ourselves becoming empathetic to people and characters we would rather dismiss? The New Testament stories also compel us to reconsider those society would reject. We are in fact called to love all of our neighbors, not just the ones with whom we agree. It should be a powerful conversation.

Sunday/Today will be our second trip down to St. Francis Inn in Kensington this fall, where 6 of our RYG kids will be serving the community there; and this Thursday we continue our discussion of Paul’s letter to the Romans at 7:15-8 am. Please join us or email with any questions to Rebecca Northington at rnorthington@theredeemer.org.
