Grants: Giving Circles Providing Punch

Traditional philanthropy has been rocked the past few years by demands for transparency, calls to increase diversity in staffing and grant making, and has been challenged to step decisively away from business-as-usual and aggressively into the mission. 

Foundations have responded to different degrees and on different timelines ranging from deep and quick to shallow and slow. Some are taking decisive action, but others continue to deliberate, wring their hands, and tweak their old systems.

From Scarcity to Inspiration: Rethinking the Value of Nonprofit Facilities

Nonprofit facilities communicate, and we need to be more conscious, thoughtful, and vocal about what they say about who and what our organizations value. A dilapidated and dysfunctional facility communicates that the work conducted inside it is unimportant, the people served deserve no better, and the surrounding neighborhood is forgotten and forsaken.

In contrast, a facility with functional—even beautiful—design sends a clear, edifying message to its occupants, visitors, and the neighborhood that they are important, with intrinsic value and a realizable vision of hope.

Upcoming Workshops
ADVANCE Leadership Development

Date: March 30 – June 8  9:00 AM -12:00 PM; 6 Bi-weekly, In-person Sessions

Presented by The Nonprofit Leadership Institute of Greater Cincinnati (NLIGC),
ADVANCE is offered three times a year and class size is limited. ADVANCE focuses on strengthening and developing management and leadership skills.

Key learnings will include:
  • Understanding and application of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and Social Intelligence (SI) concepts
  • Assessing and learning conflict management styles
  • Becoming familiar with and practicing effective communication techniques
  • Understanding the basics of managing others, including setting goals, conducting effective meetings, giving feedback, reviewing performance, and developing improvement plans
  • Understanding the principles of leadership and various leadership styles, including holding crucial conversations, conflict management, managing up, down and laterally, and team building

The training consists of professional presentations, interactive discussions, experiential learning, role playing, small group interactions, and a participant project.

5-week Salesforce Boot Camp

Dates: May 8, 10, 15, 17 and 22, 1-5 PM; In-person

Are you ready to more effectively manage your supporter relationships? CRM software allows us as nonprofits to better organize our data to streamline communication with our volunteers, partners, and donors. This saves us time and also creates a more efficient and effective fundraising pipeline so that we can focus more energy on our service in the community.

OneSource Center is offering an exclusive Salesforce Bootcamp in May for no more than five (5) Cincinnati and NKY area nonprofits who are ready to invest in their operational capacity. The Bootcamp will include 10 Salesforce licenses and 25 hours of expert training for up to ten participants from each organization to learn basic fundamentals and a few advanced functionalities.

  • Introduction to Salesforce
  • Salesforce Volunteer Management
  • Salesforce Development Management
  • Salesforce Basic Admin tool
  • Reports

Fundamentals for New Board Chairs
Date: March 9, 12-1 PM; Online
Good board leadership is about more than running efficient meetings. Gain a better understanding of the board chair’s role and how to lead your board in effective board governance to ensure a well-run agency with high impact and develop a successful and productive partnership with your Executive Director. Session may continue with Q&A from 1-1:30 PM.
