Welcome as Women's Voices Raised begins our 20th Year!
I look forward to seeing many of you at our September meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 12. Our topic is timely: “Vote Smart: Navigating the November Ballot.” You won't want to miss this opportunity to hear the most up-to-date information from experts.
WVR is thrilled that we were selected to participate in the Applied Leadership Pathways (ALPS) program. ALPS provides opportunities through the focus of development, growth, and the application of knowledge. WVR will focus specifically on developing and growing our membership, which has experienced a decrease over the last three years. Specifically, we hoping to grow and diversify membership, increase engagement, and develop leaders. We’ll share more about this throughout the year.
Maintaining a strong membership enables Women’s Voices to continue to work toward our “to identify, research and discuss issues; mobilize, energize, and inspire ourselves and others to action; and to work as individuals and in community for social justice.”
I'm inspired by these words from Malala, “we realize the importance of our voice only when we are silenced.” WVR members work to ensure all voices are heard and I'm proud to be a member and honored to be your president.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me anytime.
Your ally,
Karen Francis

Liz Sondhaus and Anne Litwin, the co-chairs of the Racial Justice Committee (RJC), would like to welcome all interested members or potential members as we organize to re-launch the Racial Justice Committee for the 2024-2025 program year.
In this coming year, we plan to continue to support the work of our two task forces: the Criminal Legal System Reform Task Force and the Attainable Housing Task Force. In addition, we plan to identify projects and partnerships in the community that we can engage with and support to advance the cause of racial justice in St. Louis. Please join us for community building and brainstorming to prioritize new areas of work that members might like to be actively involved with.
