GA STEPS UP TO PROVIDE RELIEF IN HELENE AFTERMATH

A recent article from AOPA highlights the efforts of volunteer pilots in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Volunteer pilots from ACA organizations including Operation AirDrop, AeroBridge, Angel Flight Soars, Pilots N Paws, and others, used their own aircraft to transport food, water, medical supplies, and other critical resources to affected areas.

The response to Hurricane Helene highlighted the invaluable role of volunteer pilots in disaster relief. Their dedication and resourcefulness showcased the power of general aviation in times of crisis.

NAA TO RECOGNIZE AVIATION'S MOST TALENTED & ACCOMPLISHED PEOPLE

The NAA Fall Awards event returns November 6th. This event celebrates aviation excellence and achievement, recognizing awardees who span the entirety of the aerospace industry.

ACA's President, Jim Hesseman, will be presented with the award for Outstanding Achievement in Advancement of Public Benefit Flying. Congratulations, Jim!

PUBLIC BENEFIT FLYING SAFETY

The type of flying involved in the PBF world varies widely from backcountry, short airstrip operations through surveilling the landscape looking for missing airplanes, to serious IFR in crummy weather.

This set of volunteer flying safety guidelines developed by the ACA safety committee could be applied to a volunteer pilot flying for any of the PBF groups.
