April is a special month in my family with several birthdays, Easter, and a family getaway. I made the decision a couple of months ago that this year I was going to scale back the emails for a few weeks and focus on much needed self care and family. I had a plan to make that work rather seamlessly but after three years, I should have known that something would pop up.

For the first time in as long as I can remember, fabric shipments have started arriving EARLY. Since my family plan for the month is already set, my choice was to keep these new arrivals a secret until a later date or take inspiration from the theme of today’s email and ‘look on the sunny side of the street”. The emails for the next few weeks will be a bit shorter and might not tell you everything there is to know about the new collections, but you will still be ‘in the know’ about the arrival of pretty fabrics. We usually work right up to last minute to include as many pictures and kit options as possible in an email, but for the next few weeks, we’ll only include as much eye candy as we could prepare in advance and trust that this will enough to entice you to come looking for more! Because there will be more available, from kits to bundles, to classes, they just won’t all be in the weekly email.

After some time away from my writing desk, things will get back on track towards the end of the month.

"On the Sunny Side of the Street" is a classic song that has been recorded by such greats as Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra and even Willie Nelson. I listened to all four versions of this song and each one brought a smile to my face for a different reason. I can now appreciate how this song inspired Camille.

Warning and Apologies... this song is a bit of an ear worm and could get stuck in your head for a little bit.

Sunnyside is a cheerful 40-piece collection that is full of beautiful vintage florals complimented by sweet basics in a fresh new colour palette. Coastal blues blend with olive greens, mulberry, coral pinks and even some soft oranges for added sunshine to create a timeless feel.

40-piece fat quarter and fat eighth bundles are available. Precuts, including, layer cakes (10" squares), jelly rolls (2.5" strips) and charm packs (5" squares) are also available.

Camille started with a classic song for inspiration and carried that theme through the patterns she designed. With these fabrics, she wanted to create classic quilts that would feel scrappy, timeless and vintage. Something that would have been passed down from a great grandmother or found in an old trunk.

Camille is well known for including gorgeous blues in her collections. If you have a choice between Camille's dark blues and mediums, the obvious choice is to choose both! With this collection however, Camille introduces some different greens, a new sea salt colour and some berry shades too! It's a definite colour journey.

From projects big and small and a new colour palette, Sunnyside is a great way to direct your feet to the sunny side of the street... or in this case the sunny side of your sewing room!

Threadbare is a classic spool quilt made from charm squares. For the added vintage touch with this one, you'll be keen to wash and dry this quilt a few times so they can get that crinkly vintage feel.

Flea Market is a mission accomplished for Camille. She wanted to create a simple vintage inspired hexagon quilt that could come together in a few days as opposed to over a decade doing it the English Paper piecing process. Flea Market has a simple row construction with no Y-seams or tricky piecing.

Rosemary is a layer cake friendly pattern that looks great in any fabric. You will need 2 layers, a background and binding fabric to make this quilt on your own.

The Sunnyside version of the Mini Flower Patch quilt came together after Camille's family went to bed one night. When she started, Camille was just going to cut the fabrics, but one thing led to another and by the time she went to bed this little mini was pieced, quilted and bound. A project that can be done in a night sounds lovely, doesn't it?

Finished Size: 14" x 14"

Kit Includes: Pattern and ALL fabric to make the mini-quilt including the binding and backing.

Note: This project involves some appliqué.

We couldn't let Camille have all the fun. We had to put a Sunnyside spin on a Quilters Cupboard favourite pattern, the Country Charm table runner.

I think Camille and I are kindred spirits in that music plays an active role in our creative inspiration. Sunnyside isn't the first collection that sprung to life from a song. One Fine Day, a collection that you will currently find in the Clearance section, was also inspired by a song.
