Le Bernadin & State Bird Provisions
by-the-glass Champagne for YEARS.

It's like drinking a Krug or Salon on the DAILY.

Sippin' Like Michelin: Four Moncuit Champagnes.

Antonio Galloni writes: "...the wines are consistently outstanding and delicious... they offer so much quality for the money, something that is increasingly hard to find in Champagne. The Delos Blanc de Blancs is one of the great values in Champagne."

Dear Artisans,

This is the third time in 13 years we're able to offer you Pierre Moncuit.

We're letting you in on every Master Sommelier's best-kept industry secret.

First, you need to know about this extremely important Champagne village:

Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.

This is where the greatest 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay vineyards on planet earth come from; that's an indisputable fact.

Below are the average prices on Wine-Searcher of the two most famous Le Mesnil Single-Vineyard Champagnes: Salon and Krug Clos du Mesnil.

Are they worth their price tags?
Yes, absolutely.

Can I afford them?
Uhh... let me sell a lot more wine and get back to you...

Below, you'll see that Pierre Moncuit, today's secret, is only 270 meters (that's 0.16 miles, I had to Google it) from some famous people:

Okay, let me hit you with the facts:

  • The Moncuit family has grown the grapes of Le Mesnil since 1889.

  • They own 50 Grand Cru acres of not just the best, but the oldest vines of Le Mesnil ranging 30-100+ years old. Good. Lord.

  • THEY DO NOT BLEND: ALL their Champagnes are ALWAYS from a single vintage and vineyard. Yes, ALL their NV non-vintages are technically vintage

  • Long been known as one of the greatest values in Champagne, now you're in on the secret, and can join Le Bernardin in making this your go-to glass!

Thanks to developing a great network for over a decade, I was able to get four Moncuit wines for the first time in YEARS.

It's not much—only a few hundred cases are imported strictly for the overly-stated Michelin Star restaurants.

I need to stress that out of 13 years, this is only the 3rd time we've gotten any.

So, without further ado:

The 1st Moncuit:
The ROSE is BACK. Extremely Rare.
Everyone Immediately Says "It's the Best Rose Champagne I've Had"
Pierre Moncuit Champagne Brut Rose Grand Cru NV

  • 75% Grand Cru Le Mesnil Chardonnay, 25% Grand Cru Bouzy/Ambonnay Pinot Noir
  • 40-Year Old Vines
  • Aged 3 Years on the Lees
  • Only 1,000 cases made

92 Points - Vinous:
"The NV Brut Rosé is an unusual wine in that it is rich, ample and big in texture, certainly more so than the Blancs de Blancs. That’s the result of blending in 25% Pinot from Bouzy, where the wines are naturally very rich both in flavor and texture. Bright red cherry, mint, flowers and chalk all race from the glass in this super-expressive and wonderfully inviting Rosé Champagne from Moncuit. I loved it. Dosage: 8 gr/L." -Antonio Galloni (October 2019)

90 Points - John Gilman:
"The new release of Pierre Moncuit Brut Rosé is composed of seventy-five percent chardonnay from Mesnil and twenty-five percent pinot noir from Ambonnay. It was disgorged in July of 2019 and finished with a dosage of eight grams per liter. It is a beautiful, pale salmon color and offers up a bright bouquet of strawberries, a touch of rhubarb, gentle smokiness, chalky soil tones and a dollop of clove in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, fullbodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core, refined mousse, fine balance and a long, succulent and complex finish. This is stylish and drinking very well right now. 2020-2030+" (June 2020)

The 2nd Moncuit:
By-The-Glass @ Le Bernadin & State Bird Provisions
Pierre Moncuit Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru NV

  • 100% Grand Cru Le Mesnil Chardonnay
  • 30-Year Old Vines
  • Aged 3 Years on the Lees
  • Only 4,000 cases made

93 Points - Vinous:
"The NV (2017) Brut Blanc de Blancs Delos Grand Cru is effusive, bright and focused. The added dosage in the Brut version versus the Extra Brut lends texture and resonance while enhancing all the orchard fruit, citrus and floral flavors. Ample and broad, with notable depth, the Brut is a pure and total delight. Disgorged: May, 2021." - Antonio Galloni (November 2021)

93 Points - Burghound:
"A complex, strikingly elegant and airy nose features notes of baked broad, yeast, pear, green apple and lovely spice notes. The refined character continues onto the absolutely delicious flavors that possess a moderately exuberant mousse before terminating in a dry, crisp and slightly austere finish that is clean, refreshing and persistent. This knockout is drinking perfectly now and is highly recommended." (09/12)

93 Points - Wine & Spirits:
"Moncuit’s wines are all from single villages and single years—this one from the family’s parcels in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and the 2016 vintage. Fermented spontaneously in stainless steel, it is markedly tense and holds a lot of energy in its structure, even though it underwent malolactic conversion. There’s an elegant earthiness in its spring-meadow scent, like Queen Anne’s lace, and a note of green tea that extends through flavors of lemons and tangy orange. Cool and refreshing." (12/28/20)

The 3rd Moncuit:
The NEW 2008 EXTRA-BRUT VINTAGE!!
2008 Pierre Moncuit Champagne EXTRA BRUT
Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Millesime NV

  • 100% Grand Le Mesnil Chardonnay
  • 100+ Year Old Vines
  • Aged 10 years on the lees
  • Only few hundred cases made

94 Points - Vinous:
"Moncuit's Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Millesimé shows a different facet of its personality in this version, with lower dosage vis-à-vis the Brut version. Here the flavors are brighter and more sculpted throughout. Hints of toastiness, almond and tangerine oil add an exotic flair that makes the Extra Brut absolutely beguiling. Lower dosage seems to exalt the minerality and bright acids of the year, while pushing the fruit a bit into the background. Both Brut and Extra Brut bottlings are terrific; choosing among them comes down to personal preference. Disgorged November 2020." - Antonio Galloni (November 2020)

The 4th Moncuit:
The Old-Vine 2006 VINTAGE
2006 Pierre Moncuit "Cuvee Nicole" Vielles Vignes Champagne Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru

  • 100% Grand Cru Les Chetillons Le Mesnil Chardonnay
  • 100+ Year Old Vines
  • Aged 9 Years before release
  • Only few hundred cases made

94 Points - Vinous:
"The 2006 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Cuvée Nicole VV emerges from old vines in Les Chétillons, one of the most renowned lieu-dits in Mesnil. More of a wine than a Champagne, the VV possesses notable textural richness and gravitas, both of which build with a bit of time in the glass. This is a terrific choice for readers who enjoy Champagnes with the complexity that develops in bottle over time. Disgorged: March, 2021." - Antonio Galloni (November 2021)
